followup on \'D\' for 4wd

I stopped by and snapped 1 pic before my camera battery died.

These units are being sold as 'factory rebuilds'... seems the factory would have used the correct decals..

the 1401d as pictured with a dead front axle .. i.e.. a 2wd model.

Did you talk to the dealer? Is he trying to represent it as a 4wd, or what does he say? I bet someone sold it to him as a 1401D and when it showed op it was a 1401, or all they get for decals is the D model decals.

Pretty rusty for a factory rebuild! Probably put the wrong hood on it too. Here is one of mine, original paint, little rust, not rebuilt. Just washed it and changed fluids & filters, put on a loader, etc.

Heres the other side. Notice no frame rust, just a little where you rest your feet. Still have original decals too!

Nice tractor, I notice that the 1401D pic that soundguy posted is missing the round decal. Bet they either took the riveted plaque and put it on the old 1401 (or whatever model it is) hood or took the hood from a 1401D because something had happened to the old hood (maybe it was rusted through).

Maybe he just needed a handy place to set that hood while the paint dried. Sure looks like factory decals to me. I can't even swear that's a 1401, but it definitely ain't 4WD.

I talked to his helper, not the dealer himself., and the helper wasn't to familier with what they were.. but kept repeating factory rebuilt.

Did you ask him whose factory it was and where it was? Sounds like one of the generic "it's factory rebuilt" by someone somewhere.

Maybe he meant just "factory built"./w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Looks like it was in fact built in a factory, sometime around 1979-81, and spent most of its life sitting in a rice paddy somewhere. Gawd, it looks worse than mine. The 1401D decal on a 2wd just shows that whomever put the decal on knows next to nothing about these tractors.

These are either parts tractors put together from salvage.
Or they have put the wrong hood on because thats all they had.
