2003 BX2200
I really need to find a folding ROPS for my BX2200 so it can ride on it's trailer in my garage. No flames needed, I'm willing to risk doing the switch from production.

I'm willing to buy a new one (maybe a BX22 fits?) or an aftermarket one. WORST case, I would mod mine and then replace it with a new one if I ever sold this unit.

Anyone have any suggestions? My dealer is an hour away to even measure if a Bota folding one will even fit.......

Thanks.
Ron

Can't see why a BX22 wouldn't work for you. You could also have someone make the steel brackets and weld them onto yours if you cared to go to the expense of having the "hinges" cut and welded. If you want, I would be glad to make cardboard tracings of the parts and take the pictures of the parts and e mail them to you. I can also e mail the picture of the mountings if you like also. PM your e mail address to me. Also let me know what type of INTERNET connection you have so I don't overload you with too many pictures in one e mail.

The BX22 or BX23 ROPS will fit a BX2200. There is an extra mounting hole that is used on the BX22/23s that would be unused when put on a BX2200. The part number for the entire unit is K2591-93940.

Anyone have an idea of the cost for the BX22 ROPS?

Tractorsmart did not have listing for K2591-93940.

Also those who have the BX22, how many inches does the ROPs stick up when folded and when up?

I called Femco this morning, based on an earlier post (I think from NY Yankee). They don't have one, and mainly sell OEM for JD. I pointed out that there are many BX2200s out there and there might be a market for a folding one that fit it. They were going to think about it.

They gave the name of Saf-T-cab out of Fresno as a possibility as they sell to the public. I have an email into them and will post a response if/when I receive it.

Junkman sent me a bunch of pics of his BX ROPS. With the differing opinions here, I sure wouldn't want to buy one til I knew it would fit.

I think the cost is about $500 plus shipping for a BX22 ROPS.

Best wishes,
Ron

Personally, I think that if I needed a folding ROPS, I would make the brackets, weld them on and cut my existing ROPS down in size to what would work. I wouldn't be worried about the legal issues until the day that I sold the tractor and by then, it might just be sold for parts anyway, because it would be so old. I also figure that I could also purchase a replacement ROPS today and put it away for future needs in the event of the future sale in the event a replacement wasn't available in 20+ years. I believe that people are making mountains out of mole hills on the entire ROPS issue and that it isn't as a big a deal as most are making it. It isn't like there is a entire governmental agency that its entire purpose is devoted to ROPS enforcement.

Careful Junkman! The ROPS COPS monitor this board and might be onto you........... (GRIN)

I don't have a lot of time to mod mine, and I don't have an extra $600 to buy one, so I'm in a quandry.............

My guess is I'll get the torch, welder, and chop saw out and get to work on it.........

THANKS.

How about just getting a bigger garage door?

That will cost more than $600..... the thing that gets me is that the first line of his last statement doesn't agree with the second line of his last statement... must be late and he must be a little tired and not thinking about what he is writing... "I don't have a lot of time to mod mine....... My guess is I'll get the torch, welder, and chop saw out".........LOL....
