A couple of TBNer's recommended Eureka Fluid Film for coating the underside of mower decks and internals of snowthrowers. I went to my local TSC, and they had a product called MO-DECK (No Fluid Film :( ).
The Fluid Film website lists TSC as distributor. Has anyone used MO-DECK? Is it the same as/similar to Fluid Film?
The people at TSC say they sell a lot of MO-DECK to repeat customers. I bought two spray cans of MO-DECK ($7 ea) and plan to use it on my 62C mowing deck and front mounted PTO driven 47" snowthrower unless you guys advise different.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

pam cooking oil spray will do a better job than mo-deck, and much cheaper.
you can pick it up at grocery store

Mo-Deck bills itself as primarily a non stick coating and doesn't list it's ingredients other than they say it's a "polymer" which covers most things like petroleum products, sugars, vegetable oils, silicon oils, plastics, hair, skin etc. etc. On here, and several of the commercial lawn care/mowing sites, there usually is a comment about PAM working as well and being cheaper. I've never used it.

FF works very well as a lubricant for chains, hydraulic cylinders, etc. etc. and snow really slides off plow blades sprayed with it, but it excels as an anti rust coating. The 72" 7 Iron Deck on the front of my 1445 gets a good cleaning and spray with FF at the start of the season and the end. It only sees about 5-10hrs of use/week and grass buildup doesn't seem to be a problem, maybe because I rarely mow when the grass is wet. I cut some very steep slopes.

You can give FF's toll free number a call or drop an email to [EMAIL="dwilliams@eurekafluidfilm.com"Dan Williams [/EMAIL] and they will mail you out a free sample.

I used Mo Deck last summer on my Cub Cadet 2550 mower deck. I used it according to directions on the can. And it was a relatively dry summer so the grass was never very wet or full of moisture.

I really don't believe it performed well at all. I won't use it again.

Hopefully it performs better for others.

I put the MO-DECK on the mower and on the snowthrower. Won't be able to tell until next spring how it works on the mower. Should be sooner than that for the snowthrower! :D
Anyone else used Fluid Film, MO-DECK, or other coatings?

I use Fluid Film as a lube and rust preventive coating. Works great in the battery compartment, fenders, 3pt hitch etc. I sprayed the underside of my truck last week to slow the rust. We'll see how it works with constant salt and grime spray this winter.

FYI - Its lanolin based, so if you're allergic, it will bother you to spray it. I wear a mask cause it makes me cough.

anyone use anything to thin fluid film? Its a bit too thick to go through my spray bottle.

From the FF Faq's page:

I have a gallon of Fluid Filmョ and want to thin it down. How can I do that?

The first recommendation is to thoroughly mix the product. Fluid Filmョ is thixotropic, and will get heavier upon sitting. Achieving room temperature with the product will help as well. If a thinner version is wanted, start by mixing a small amount of vegetable oil to the product until the desired consistency is reached. It is not recommended that Fluid Film be used in a pump type sprayer even after thinning. A paint sprayer is what is recommended for proper application.

The gallon sizes are very economical and work to spray large surfaces in bulk. It is the thickness of house paint. I have read that a Wagner power sprayer works well. I use a small, cheap rust proofing gun that holds about a liter and is air driven. You can pick them up off Ebay, or at a NAPA etc. for about 20-30 bucks. You can find the aerosal cans for a little over 5 bucks a can if you shop around and they are very convenient.

FF pretty good stuff. Odd. Works in many situations from storage batteries to guns to under the car, to leather seats and boots to hands. Weird.

Can't imagine the cost using aerosol cans!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bought 5 gallons of it few months ago and it's half gone.
