Florida tornadoes, I've been listening to this all morning, are our Florida members alright? the news aren't saying much except lots of damage

And we live near Jacksonville, Fl. about 90 miles north of the storm area

My dad just called, took the carport off his house (trailer) and the roof off the laundry room / utility room. No real damage to the trailer itself though.

He said he opened the door, and took him a minute to realize that he was standing there getting wet,,,, Then realized that there was no more Carport...

Long as nobody is hurt, it is only money.

Dang, just read the news link! Looks like it put a hurting to a lot of the local area.

Never a good thing when people are injured and killed.

Years ago a good friend had one come through his farm. House was fine, the barn was damaged pretty bad and his boat disapeared. No sign of it anywhere, and it's been an ongoing mystery to where it ended up.

Luckily tornados in Florida are for the most part pretty tame in comparison to those found in the midwest. Those in real danger are those living in those flimsy trailer parks.

House trailers/mobile homes are the first to go, it's not as strong as the manufactures will tell you they are, storms will prove that

LADY LAKE, Florida (CNN) -- Suspected tornadoes rocked central Florida residents out of bed early Friday, killing at least 14 people and ripping long swaths of destruction through neighborhoods, said Lake County spokesman Christopher Patton.

Many residents said they were unaware trouble was coming and didn't hear warning sirens.

You ever see that footage of that trailer park that was scoured clean to the ground... even took the roads out? The only survivors were in a trailer that the guy had dug a hole in the ground under it, just in case a tornado hit. They managed to jump in and hold a steel plate over themselves.
