Hi all,

I have a question about how to get the FEL into the float mode. I have just acquired a 2006 NH TC26DA with the 12LA Loader. The book and the diagram indicate to push the control forward into the detent position and that the bucket will float. When I push it all the way forward it just pushes the bucket down and picks up the front of the tractor. I can't feel any detent. I must be doing something wrong but can't figure out what. Help!

Push the lever more fwd until it snaps into the detent. More force required.

If you absolutely can not get it into detent, you can remove the caps on the bottom of the valve and inspect the detent area.

Thanks JJ. I'll try that tomorrow. It seems like I was pushing pretty hard on it but maybe not enough. Have no experience with it yet as I have only had the tractor for a couple days.

Raise the bucket up fairly high so you have some room to work with. Now push the loader control all the way forward as far as it will go. It should almost hold itself there when you let go and lower itself to the ground. It has a distinct feel at the loader control. That's the float position.

It's possible that there's an adjustment if it doesn't work. Someone should be along shortly to help you with that one of that's the case.

On my 12 LA loader, there is a little bit of a catch or pop - I guess that's what they mean by 'detente.' You can feel it when you go past the "down" position and into the "float."

I don't know how common the problem is, it might be just mine, but you want to go easy on the "up/down/dump" bucket angle - left/right on the lever, because you can break the pin (looking at it it would seem impossible so don't ask me how) that controls the left/right on the "shuttle" and that "shuttle" part is over $300 to replace. I rigged a pin to replace it, but won't know for a few months if the fix is going to last.

I think you got yourself a nice tractor and loader.. I like mine a lot.

Thanks for the help everyone. Its working fine. Operator headspace just needed a little adjustment. Once you know the trick it works ok.
