Well ... we've almost all agreed that we need a new tractor for the farm in the new year and I've started doing my research. It's looking like a 80 PTO hp model such as the Kubota M9000 or the green equivalent. I'd like to get a new 15' flex wing mower to go with it to replace the 7' heavy duty Servis I use at present to cut the 155 acres. I was checking out the Servis-Rhino SR-15 mainly because the transport width is narrow enough that I can still get it through the gates and undercover without any major reconstruction work to the pole barn. The problem is that I have no experience with flex-wing mowers and how they operate or handle. The farm is mainly pasture with trees (raise cattle) and the land is rolling to reasonably short, steep grades where the old terraces have broken down and it can be rough in places where the wild hogs have rooted around. I'd like some advice from the knowledgable members here on whether this would be a good combination on this type of land or would I be making an expensive mistake trying to use this type of mower on our pastures. The old 7' mower still works well but I was looking to cut down on the mowing time.
Your advice, as always, will be greatly appreciated.
