I don't currently have an UTV., but I've been doing a little research on them the last couple of days with the idea that one of them might be a good idea for servicing a brush mulching machine on job sites such as power line Right Of Ways (ROW).
Instead of driving the mulching machine back & forth along the length of the ROW at the beginning & end of every work day, everytime it needs servicing or refueling, or when it needs to have the radiators blown out; I thought it might be a good idea to use an UTV to carry the diesel fuel, the air compressor, grease guns, etc. to & from the tow vehicle/trailer and mulching machine. Doing so would save the wear & tear on the more expensive to operate mulching machine, and plus it would save time. I realize that I could just mount the air compressor and fuel transfer tank on the flat bed of my F450, but that F450 is not going to be able to travel off-road like a UTV would be able to along the length of ROWs.
It's just one of those things that I've thought about while planning to start my brush mulching business, it's just an idea at this point in time, but I think it's worth the effort to look into.
So far I'm thinking that I'd want a UTV with: diesel engine, 4x4, and only two passenger seating (no need for anything more than two), and a winch (on both ends maybe?). I'd want one that's geared torwards working, not playing. So far both the Kawasaki Mule & John Deere XUV (w/diesel engines) are looking good to me. From what I can tell there is no way to have the load bed deleted at the factory as you can have done when you buy a chassis cab truck. So I guess I'd have to just remove it myself and build or have built a scaled down version of a chassis cab truck flatbed installed onto which I'd bolt on the air compressor and diesel fuel transfer tank. I'm sure I'd have such things as a tool box mounted on it too.
