But my little home made boom pole worked just fine. I needed to take home 2 implements for some home work.

Enjoy the pics!!

Nice boom pole. I like the way it seems to replace the top link.

Thanks, not my design, just a copy. Actually this was my first try pole, I actually bent it picking up the 60" FM, heaviest thing I got at about 550#. My top suppoet stretched on me. But this one is lighter!! Here is the HD model.

Nice, I am getting ready to build something like that to go on my FEL, need to lift some 400lbs of trusses about 13ft up. What did you use for the top support that stretched on you?

If I recall it's 1/2"x3/4" solid bar. Something the scrap yard had at the time. I think the pipe is 2" or 2.25". After some research I made the top strap higher, and you can see the stiffner just in front of the 3pt attachment point. Thats where the last one bent.

The one doing the loading had some 1/8"x1" strap. Stretched!! I laid some 16ga 3/4" tubing over the top and welded. It'll flex but hold. The weight of the BB will almost tip the tractor. I can't go up any hills. :D If I need to move anything a longer distance I'll attach it to the middle hook.

Only used it a few times, handy when needed.

Yep home made, pictures are on the other computer. But it's pretty simple.

The frame is 16ga 3/4" square tubing. Doubled up on the outside that run front to back. Couple cross members. The square frame is welded to a 1.5"x3/16" angle. 4 holes in the angle attach it to the top of the rops. The rops is drilled and tapped for the 3/8" bolts. Then the straps attached to the rops bolts hold it up. The top is 1/2" ply. On the outside is some cypress we found somewhere. The ply is dadoed into the cypress. And a little fancy routed edge. Gorilla glue holds the ply to the edge. The 4 holes in the corners allow water to drain. I've thought about redoing the wood part with sheetmetal but that thing has found more trees and vines than I can count. The supports that hold it up on the sides have taken a beating but its still holding.

Oh found some pics on the flash drive. Welds not that pretty, the scrap yard had galvanized I remember. Doesn't weld pretty.

Here ya go...

Rob, nice boom pole, but I'll have to subtract some style points for that GREEN steering wheel spinner. That's just tacky. I got a nice orange one on mine.

You get it locally at a dealer? I haven't seen them at my dealers. I would gladly trade it out but not remove it just because it's green. Heck I'll spray paint it!! It is just to handy.

Rob, it sounds like you are putting function before style. What's the world coming to?

Seriously, if it works, keep it. They had all colors at the TSC where I bought mine. Just got it recently and I agree, it is very handy, and as cheap as I am, I wouldn't change it out regardless of the color.
