First: The Land. Now, the house on \"The Land\"

Some of you may have seen the first pictures of "The Land." After planning, struggling, calculating, worrying, working and getting a little lucky finally - our project has begun. I haven't posted pictures for some time, but will attempt to show you all the progress on our "final" home. Have over 200 hours on the 4310 now, and loads more on rake, shovel and chain saw. The changes are exciting for us -- hope this stimulates some comments while encouraging others to stick with it on your own dreams.

The first picture was before getting started. Had a dozer and track hoe remove around 40 Eastern Red Cedars that were choking some of the magnificent trees - we want to reture parts of the acreage to original Savannah. Then, the dozer laid the base for the road last fall. The beautiful ground started to get torn up, but we know it's needed for the project.

floor joists over partial basement. The house is around 2400 square feet, prairie style (5in12 pitch) with a series of stacked hip roofs. One level, it is our final destination, we hope.

Basement is about a third of the floorplan. We used a scapewell unit with built in steps. It lets in light and doesn't interfere with the elevation/design.
