first repair

I have been working the tractor pretty hard the last couple of days. Today, while ripping out some roots on a pine tree I plan on pushing over, I noticed some fluid dripping off the cross brace of the loader.It was coming from a hard line fitting, the second one from the front. To my surprise the nut was loose. Is it common for hydraulic fittings to work loose? The tractor has 60 hrs on it.

No, it is not common for the fittings to work loose, however, it is not uncommon for anything assembled by a human to develope a leak---due to human error during the assembly process. (Someone probably did not get it completely tightened up when putting it together.)

A lot of times when hooking up hyd lines you have to snug up and check for twist and or position. It's easy to forget to go back and tighten firmly. Your best bet is to double check all of them.
I have cussed at a leak for days/weeks only to find it just needed tightening! Also cussed and found it needed serious repair and any attempt to tighten made it worse!
If you want leak free hyd's never put fluid in them!
