First NX5010C Regen

Maybe there are differences btwn the different years. I have 2 different regen symbols. Both very similar looking. One indicates auto regen ( keep going and keep rpms up) and the other tells me to stop, park and let system do its thing. Neither symbol will flash ( or at least they never have). I have just followed instructions for each symbol. Read manual carefully i guess.

I also have two different symbols. Auto regen is solid. Manual regen flashes.

My 4510 has a sticker in the cab on the left hand post showing the 2 symbols and what to do with each. Neither regen symbol flashes on mine (2016 bought in Canada)

Kioti Dave, my 2019 NX has that same sticker, so now I know what to look for on the dash. My first regen was definitely the automatic one.

The symbols are similar with the auto regen having a temperature symbol superimposed on the exhaust symbol. The manual regen has a sooty filter symbol superimposed on the exhaust symbol.

When I working with the NX today I noticed the two regen symbols side by side near the bottom of the display panel after the tractor starts.

My first regen was at 28 hours, and all subsequent regens have been automatic at about 35-40 hour intervals. To be honest, I only notice the tractor has gone into a regen, when I smell the weak sulphur odor, common to a regen. I also try to keep the rpm's higher than 2300 to encouraging a cleaner burn during the regen. Operating any tier4 tractor at low rpm (less than 1800) is basically filling the regen canister with carbon particulates quicker, forcing shorter regen cycles.

I have a different tractor, ck3510, but probably similar if not identical regen operations. When I got it last year, my first tasks were all with the backhoe, which I ran at about 1800 rpms, just to get slower, smoother movements on the hoe. Got my first regen at like 18hrs.

I've got 225hrs on the tractor now, and from that amount of experience, I can confidently say that running under 2200rpm will drastically shorten the regen intervals. 2000rpm got me between 25 and 30hrs, 2200 gets me 40+ every time. I have not had to do a parked regen at all yet, just the automatic ones.

Unlike what others have said, I DO notice a very slight decrease in power when it goes into regen. I've only really noticed it when running a heavy brush hog, going uphill, in mid-range. Hasn't been a problem at all, but it is noticeable.

rademamj1 and NYCheese, thanks for comments on effect of rpm's. I tend to run slow (1500 - 1800) based on past use of my non-Tier 4 Mahindra. I only crank it up if I need the power or am running a PTO implement. Need to form a new habit for the Tier 4 tractor.

Please find attached, for all that may benefit, is a highly useful Tier4 Regen Summary released by Kioti for their tractors. This discusses specifically both automatic and manual regen procedures.
