Snow First big snow 2305 FEL & RB

Just got our first big snow of the year here in West Central Ohio. Weatherman says 12" you can't tell it by looking at the lawn because of the 30mph winds we had. I had to deal with several large drifts the largest was probably 30x20 by 5' at the tallest. After I had a system down the 2305 is a snow moving monster.
NOAA predicting another 8" by Wednesday so I'll get some more seat time in this week. But they were also calling for about that much before the last storm started.

And the wife wonders why I would rather spend hours on the tractor or...have the snow plow guy do it.

Glad to hear you're dug out. Has the storm ended?
That's a lot of work for a FEL and RB.

They are calling for the next storm starting tonight and ending Wednesday. Next one shouldn't be as bad, I'll have a chance to work on it before it all comes down. No I don't have a cab. I was out yesterday afternoon until well after dark. The cold didn't bother me until put the tractor away, then was really cold. I guess I lost my tractor high. LOL.

Usually all of our wind comes from the West or Southwest. The last storm the wind was blowing from the Northeast. When I heard about the new storm I thought no way it's going to come from the East two times in a row. So I piled the snow on of course the East side of the driveway. The wind is coming dead East. That pile is 50' long and 4' tall in some spots. I knew I should have loaded it and hauled it around the other side of the barn. I'm going to have fun tommarow.

I can offer some pictures... 2WD 1050, gear trans, no chains or cab, paved drive, nowhere for the RB to push 2' of snow, so lots of FEL work, and today is round two (or three, counting December).

This looks a lot easier!

Well, I cleaned up 10" of new, soft white stuff yesterday with my 2210 FEL and RB. Any new and interesting techniques you've come up with for that combo? How high can you pile the snow? With skill I can sliiiiiiiiide the snow up and over the top to make it stand sometimes close to 7' tall! This is done by rolling the bucket just right as I lift and push. This soft stuff was woFUNrk! I could ram through it without too much trouble to access my piles. I now have a row along the north side of the driveway 100' long x 6' tall pushed about 50' off the driveway and into the field. I have to maintain the space between of course to be sure to have room to push future snow. This is why it took two miserjoyfulable hours to clean up. In some areas I push forward with the bucket, then rather than turn around to go the other way I'll back up and push with the rear blade. repeat.

windy_hill37 - where abouts in "West Central Ohio" are you located? I grew up in Jackson Center which is 30 miles east of the Indiana line and halfway between Toledo and Cincy just east of I75. I moved to MI 25 years ago and snow is a normal part of life here 4-5 months out of the year. Sometimes miss the "ohio winters" when we only had snow on the ground for 6-7 weeks....
