Tractor
2013 john deere 5075E and others
I think I can give a fair honest review. I bought a 2013 2wd oos 5075E in 2014. New old stock, never sold, 0 hours, full two years warrenty. Dealer added 5 suitcase weights and bracket to the front, antifreeze to the rears, a extra set of remotes, and a block heater. I added a canopy, floor mats, extra lights, a horn, and fire extinguisher. Tractor was rated at 61-62 PTO HP. I watched the dyno go to 72-73 myself, which I feel put the engine at 83HP. The dealership is beside a grainery with a scale. With me not on it and a half tank of fuel she weighted 6830lbs. I bought this tractor to be a backup to the backup. I knew it was a no frilles basic tractor when I bought it. But I expected it to earn it's keep and it has. Most of the 100 hours it has pulled a heavy Agri-tech 10 ft bush hog cliping pasture and some CRP ground. It has walked on with it. The rest of the time it has fed cattle and run a post hole digger. No issues. It does like fuel, 4.25-4.5 gallon an hour at 2500rpm and the bush hog. But the Nebraska Tractor Test does say this is accurate. The 2nd to reverse shift is as smooth as any shuttle I have. The other gears are syncro'd but require a "touch'. I have just not had any issues with it. Changes/improvements; I am strongly right-handed and would like to see all controls in one spot on the right hand side. But it may add extra cost. I would also like to see a light on the dash to indicate preheater is on. My only disappointment is the brakes. Adequete but soft. Has never bottomed out or failed to stop me but more travel than I'd like. The brakes will "lock down" tight enough to slide the tires so they are working. Did the tractor use any oil? Yes, about a pint at the most. I'm totally happy it and wish I'd bought it sooner. Questions?

Glad to hear about a good experience. The 5E series have been very good overall in our location. I think you can expect many good years of service!

Well I was not aware of the 'Nebraska Tractor Test'... I Googled it and it looks very informative. Unfortunately my 4105 either doesn't qualify or they haven't got around to it.

I am pleased that your 5075E has worked out so well for you. I've had zero problems with my rig and it does everything I've asked of it.

My very first impression of the tractor was that it was loud. The 3 cylinder engine really hammers. That and it really smokes and rattles at cold start even with preheater. It still does it, but has never failed to start or even hesitated. I just give it a few seconds to clear out. Things I would add/change/leave off. I would add a right hand side hand rail, it comes with a left one. I may move the tool box or add another one. I'm 5' 6'' and it's not handy to get to from the ground. I would add another couple weights to the front. The best feature of the tractor, oddly enough is PARK. Yeah, on other colors I have you put the range selector in neutral, then the gear selector in neutral, lock the brakes, then dismount with engine running. All this tractor needs is to shift into PARK get off and open the gate. Even with PTO engaged tractor stays running. I like that.

First issue, just a minor one with 5075E. I got ready to feed with it a couple days ago and after checking the oil I noticed the side of the engine was wet with diesel. A little further checking and I found the rubber fuel supply line from the filter base to the bottom of the tank was deteriated/dry rotted and leaking. The line makes a U-shaped bend in the area of the leak and is exposed to sunlight and heat. Plus the tractor sat unsold on the lot for a year of so before I bought it. But a leak is a leak. Stopped by the dealership, told the story and also told them I was okay replacing the hose myself if they supplied it. Just a couple of hose clamps. They called me a couple hours later and said my hose was ready and they asked if they had ever replaced the starter on the tractor? Nope, no problem with the starter, it starts fine. There's a recall on it. We'll come out to your place replace the hose and the starter all under warrenty, no charge. Cool. How about the "return" fuel line from the injector rail to the top of the fuel tank? It's a rubber hose too runs a similar route to "supply" hose and they are zip tied together. It's not leaking yet but.... Call us when it does. I was well satisfied with the service.

My '11 Kubota M7040 65 pto hp tractor uses only 2 GPH of diesel pulling a 9 ft disc cutter mowing Coastal Bermuda. My JD 4255 only uses a little over 3 GPH pulling my rd baler but I run it a little slower rpm's at 480 pto rpm instead of 540. I would have thought the JD 3 cyl engine fuel consumption would equal or be better than my Kubota 4 cyl but surely not double.

Good to here from you Tx Jim. Yes that 4-4.5 gallon per hour is right. Under full load at 2500RPM. The Nebraska Tractor Test shows it at 4.08 GPH at 2400RPM but mine is turned up roughly 10%.
