Finish mower belt problem

/ Finish mower belt problem #21
Tanner,

I did not read the entire string, but as a newbie myself in a family of tractor men, I was told to not use my finish mower in grass over six inches. Also, make sure you are running at 540 rpm, as my 1610D has three speeds on the PTO as I'm sure yours does. Running thru the pasture, attempting to cut too fast might create a problem as well. Picture the PTO running above 540, the blades attempting to cut very high grass, and the potential for a belt drive to slip and throw. This might be the culprit.
