One of society's finest, for sure. I might overlook all of the other things, but attacking the dog is a hanging offense in my book.

It pisses me off to hear of felons committing another felony after serving some time, let out early (for ever wTF reasons).... I gotta stop reading these. They get my dander up.

Here's what I always thought would work.
Prison should be h*ll. He has two choices...1) work 2) solitary. Solitary is a 6x6 cell no window, slop & water. Work he's "paid" in play money, that work pays for room & board, restitution to victim(s).
So working more hours, the sooner he gets out. Taxpayers don't have to pay. At some point he realizes working beats solitary, and working on the outside beats prison.

C'mon...are you kidding??...The bleeding heart liberals would be up in arms...with all the liberal judges treating felons with kid gloves pedophiles and cop killers can get off with a slap on the wrist...!

I always said prison should be so horrible anyone that spent time in one would never do anything that would put them back once they served their time...The bleeding hearts demand they have AC and color TV including HBO and Showtime...!!

Pine I agree with you 100%. That's what is so wrong in our system.

It’s a shame to see someone in that shape. Obviously a slave to something that’s not good.

His record and his actions pretty much show that he needs to be locked up forever or if he hurt any innocent people give him the needle and a quick cremation.

Wow! A high speed tractor chase! What a subject for a movie! Bullitt with a green four bottom! This guy must have the I.Q. of a turnip...not to mention he isn't nearly as handsome as Steve McQueen, or Max Baer for that matter. I think these idiots have basically given up on a normal life, and disfigure themselves to give society the bird, metaphorically speaking. Sure wouldn't want one of my daughters to bring this guy home...or even pass him on the opposite side of the street.

I don't believe inhuman treatment of inmates help's anything. Think about it,would guards be instructed to abuse individual inmates according to the severity of their crime? Would the sticky fingered bank teller be treated same as or worse than the child rapist? What do I believe? I believe a study of Former Maricopa County, Arizona, Sheriff Joe Arpaio's 24 year tenure could tell us if his approach results in fewer repeat offenders. I believe that addressing every issue with equal extreamity according to which side voters are on is the reason society basically keep's spinning their wheels rather than making meaningful changes. Before responding to what I've said and without "googling it",how tall is the sheriff? That's a serious question, how tall is Joe Arpaio? Only you know if you cheat so judge yourself if you do.

I pretty much agree. Society has historically approached imprisonment from two different perspectives: as a place of punishment, and as a place of rehabilitation. I think either is legitimate, but from a moral perspective we have to give up an important part of our character to inflict punishment at the expense of our humanity. Rehab obviously doesn't work for everyone; some of these characters need to be locked up forever, but for those that rehab is an option, maybe we should put more emphasis on them? I have not first hand knowledge of the prison system, but I believe they have so many pressing problems, handling the prisoners and protecting society, that probably take precedence over rehabilitation.

I do have a relative that is a retired prison warden, and some of his stories are really scary. Like they say, it's hard to remember that your initial objective was to drain the swamp, when you find yourself up to your azz in alligators.

I don't think anyone said to treat prisoners inhumanely. BUT, why should they have all the best amenities like HVAC, cable TV, good food, nice beds etc. when many honest, hard working folks live without AC, no cable TV /no TV, go to bed hungry every night and work 2 jobs to support themselves and family all while the thief, murderer, rapist etc. lays up in an air conditioned environment with all the need taken care of including free medical that many folks who work for a not so decent living don't enjoy.

I think Sheriff Joe had the right idea, let them sweat in the heat like other folks, eat bologna sandwiches instead of steak for meals and live in a tent. Lots of honest folks have to do the same thing. When did society decide that criminals deserved the best treatment. Allowably, 50 years ago, many prisons were not much more than dungeons and prisoners were treated badly, but we swung 180 degrees in the opposite direction with all the liberals demanding not only equal treatment but better treatment for prisoners than folks outside the prison are getting from the government. Heck I think many criminals commit crimes just so they can go back inside and get everything they need for doing nothing. The only hardship prisons have is that prisoners cant leave.

Bleeding hearts seem to have an entirely different definition of "humane" than the unsympathetic...
Everyone should be held accountable for their actions in a conforming manner...
I'm not saying judges should not have some discretion but IMO there needs to be stricter guidelines for non victimless crimes...

I’m unsympathetic to criminals. Seen too many multiple time losers get breaks from the “system” at the expense of law abiding citizens. Violent thugs need to meet a swift end to their life of crime.
