Well I finally got my 3320 back from the dealer with all of my attachments, accessories, and backhoe! It was a long wait but will be worth it, sides that I got to put almost 40hrs on the tractor and get all of the bugs worked out, ie. the tire on the right side was hitting the steering cylinder fitting when turned all the way to the right, turned out to be that the center of the rim was welded to far out making the tire set in closer, a new rim fixed it, and the parking brake needed to be adjusted, other than that no problems. I tried out the hoe for a few minutes out in the swamp but the cold weather caused me to give up on playing with the hoe. I took it off the next day to put the back blade on because of the threat of a snow storm (didn't hit us /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ) but there is always spring time just around the corner /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. The hydrolics on the hoe seem a little whimpy but an adjustment on the pressure relief should take care of that. Take care all!
Larry
p.s. thanks go out to bloomington mike for editing my pic's so that I can post them on tbn, without his help I wouldn't be posting pic's. Thanks Mike!

Larry,

You mention an adjustment on the pressure relief. If you do this please let me know if it increases the power. My 448 on my 3720 seems a little weak also. Also, not to sound stupid, but where is the pressure relief and is a guage required for an adjustment or can it just be 'tweeked'?

Fellow JD hoe owners: is this a no-no to adjust the pressure relief?

Thanks...Shooter

shooter: I'm a little new to the adjustments to the pressure relief thing, I was talking to a mechanic at the dealership where I purchased the tractor and attachments, and he was showing me how to remove and install the hoe. As we were talking about the backhoe I mentioned that the one I tried out seems to be alittle week, he told me that the hydrolic pressure on the tractors come from the factory set a little on the week side and that by putting a pressure tester in the 3rd scv and tightening down the hydrolic pressure relief to around 2800psi it would still be safe. He said that it would give the back hoe that little extra power that it needs. I'm probably going to regret having said that as I'm sure to catch h**k from everybody that likes to leave things as the factory sets them, but I've talked to several other people in the landscape business and setting up the hydrolic pressure (within safe limits) is done alot. I've also asked other construction guys about it and most have done it to their equipment. The pressure relief valve is under the seat area, I haven't changed mine yet and probably won't until spring, the loader works just find the way it is and I won't need the hoe until then. I had a chance to put the hoe back on the tractor today and dig a large hole with it, the hydrolics are on the weak side and the 3pt hitch didn't have enough umph to pick up the hoe and put it in place on the rock shaft assest. I had to hook up the hoses on the hoe and use the hoe to help put itself in place. I know that the 3pt picked it up just fine at the dealership because I was there watching, so I'm not sure as to why today it wouldn't do the job. I'll do some checking into where that pressure relief adjustment is and post it for you. Thank you for the reply. Have a good one.

Thanks Larry,
I am very interested in getting a little more power out of my hoe. Sometimes when I back into my hoe and lift it it does not go high enough to push the pins in. I then push the lift lever as far back as it will go and it lifts it that little extra that it needs. Try that and see if it works.
I am going to try to get my tractor pressure tested to see just where the pressure relief is set.
Thanks...Shooter

Nice rig, Larry!

I'm still patiently waiting for mine to arrive, probably at the end of next week. I'll also be very interested to hear what you find out about pressure relief valve adjustments.

Which bucket is that? I'm thinking 18", from looking at the photos...

Tom.
