Pun intended. As you may remember, my old 1418 didn't have the bleeder fitting on the hydrostatic drive pump. It had a hex plug where the fitting goes, and I had to bleed the pump after a filter change by dumping oil in the engine compartment. Well, four fittings later, I've finally got it. PT originally sent me a 3/8 SAE male O-ring to 1/4 male JIC fitting, and I told them "the pump side is too big". They then sent me the only other size they had (1/4 O-ring to 1/4 JIC), and it was still too big. I ordered the next smaller size (3/16 O-ring to 1/4 JIC) from FittingsAndAdapters.com , and it was too small. I then compared the thread sizes and my measured diameter of the plug, and decided it must be either 1/8 NPT to 1/4 JIC, or 1/8 BSPT (British pipe, ie. metric), so I ordered one of each from FittingsAndAdapters.com. I got the bags mixed up when I got them, but I believe the one that fit was the 1/8 NPT to 1/4 JIC.
I'm quite pleased that now I can bleed hydraulic oil back into the hydraulic tank by removing the cap and attaching the hose rather than bleeding it into the engine bay.
Btw, FittingsAndAdapters.com has absolutely fantastic customer service. I got advice from the person operating their web-based business, and he even called me on the telephone with a question about my order... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. I'm very impressed.
