Ive made a few threads about it her over the last 2 years, now its finally happening.

MY best friend dad is giving me his MT372.

A large tree branch fell across it and damaged the steering wheel, hood, and dash. Did minor damage to the fenders, and destroyed the plastic grille with the lights in it.

Its been siting for at least 3 years. It was running fine, low low hours, then it lost its prime in the fuel system, and it got put on the bakc burner, then the tree limb fell on it during Hurricane Ivan.

I know Bill Rogers is the man to go to for parts, and Ive spoken ot him over the phone once before.

Bill, if you are still a member here, You think you might have:

Dash, with lights and gauges
Steering wheel
Hood and front grille?

Thanks

I hear crickets...hehe

Anyone know how big a mower this monster can take? Its got the Haban mower on it, but it looks to be in pretty bad shape. How wide is the Haban mower? 48"? 50"?

Also, are engine parts still availible, in case sitting for sol ong has messed up the engine. Where to get air and oil and fuel filters?

I have a MT372D.
The air filter can be washed with soap and water the let dry throughly before re-installing.
You might try the auto parts store for the fuel filter, it looks to be about the size that fits in an old Q-jet carb (long filter). I did get mine from Bill Rodgers, I needed a filter bowl and got the filter at the same time.
I get my oil filters from Napa.
I haven't needed any other parts yet it has been a great little tractor.
I did put a suspension seat on it with lots of modification.

This one has The bar lug tires in the back, and tri-rib up front, I suppose the D has bar lug up front too? How is it for traction in 2wd?

I just got the call from the guy Im getting it from. Friday morning ,or afternoon, assuming nothing comes up, I can go pick it up from his house.

Cant wait!!!

First Im gonna pressure was it real good and see exactly what Ive got to work with. Then Ill remove the broken/damaged peices. Then remove the fuel system, all but the box, for a thourough cleaning.

I guess then Ill remove the glow plugs and put a little marvel oil in the cylinders, in case the rings are stuck. Its been covered up, but just in case.

After that, Ill test the starter, and glow plugs. If okay, Ill try and turn it over. If it turns over, Ill run a compression test. If its good there, Ill put a little diesel to it, and see if it will pop off...

Mine is only 2wd, it does a poor job with ground engaging implements (not enough weight). It does great with bush hog, towing trailers and carring a 35gal water tank.
I don't think you will have any trouble with stuck rings, maybe a stuck 3pt piston. Mine did that after sitting outside not being used for almost a year, I just soaked it then put some weight on it till it broke free...that was three years ago.
While your cleaning the outside you may as well change your hydraulic oil and clean the hydraulic filter, it is located on the L/H side of the rear end held on with two bolts. Also change the ft. axle oil since you have 4wd.
Have fun with your project.

Mine's a 2wd too.

This one has bar lug tires on the back, do you think it would pull a single bottom plow, and a Tandem Disc?

UPDATE- Went to pick it up and the sky opened up on us, lots of heavy rain and lightning, so we put it off til yesterday. He had a dentists appointment in the morning, simple checkup and cleaning turned into a re-cap, he got sick off the anesthesia...

So Today, he called and told me to come on, and low and behold, Ive got a flat on my new trailor...:(

Got it all aired up, pulled the little tack out and patched it, got it aired up, and darned if it didnt start storming...

So Ill give it another go tomorrow...

I have turf tires on mine. You may have better luck with the ag tires.
I tried to pull a 5' disk and it would only pull it with the gangs set straight any other position and I get rear tire spin ( I was courious as to what it would do).
I have a 29hp 4wd tractor that does all my grunt work.

If you don't have any ft. ballast then you will need it. I have 179lbs worth of railroad track and some other weight welded together then bolted to the ft.
I can carry a 35gal water tank (@320lbs total) on a home made rear carry-all or a 42" bushhog or pull a 16' utility trailer (empty) around without the ft. wheels comming off the ground.

I know My old John Deere 316 can pull a 48" Tandem Disc with the gangs set at maximum angle with no problem. No ballast, no ag tires.

How does the clutch work on the Mitsu? Good grabbing power?

About how fast is 3rd High? How slow is 1 Low?

))))))))))UPDATE((((((((((

Okay, went to get it, and his mower couldnt pull it out of the rut the tires were in, so This week he is bringing his BOBCAT in to lift it out.

Got a good look at it, and it really is still mechanically sound. Dont see any rust.
