My L3430 HST w/R1's filled, folding ROPS, LA723 FEL w/Quick Connect and Tooth Bar was delivered last Friday.
Played (worked) all weekend.
Nice machine. Still learning about it and tractoring in general.

Those R1's do alot of damage on wet grass (lots of rain here) not the finished yard anyway. Should have got the R4's.

And the a$$ end was REAL light before I borrowed a box blade for ballast. A few scary moments at first.

It took awhile for me to stop using the HST peddle as a gas peddle.

Even though I didn't ask alot of questions before I purchased, most if not all my questions where answered by reading post.

Thanks for reading

Spock, Congratulations- My 3430 is supposed to be in first of this week, 4n1 bucket maybe this week. With the amount of rain last week / this year any tires will leave their mark. Glad to know yours arrived so quickly - can't wait to get some seat time also.

Thanks Thomasre
Rain is good, but we need it spread out some.

Hope your tractor arrives soon.

Waiting is something I am not good at.

I had a lot of fun this weekend only put about six hours on my new baby.

The R4's aren't much better. You don't want to drive your tractor on the lawn anyway - it is too heavy and compacts the soil. That's why you need a lawn tractor /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif...

You'll want to try to keep the tractor balanced. It is like a teeter-totter, in a way (which you'll find when you have a bucket full of gravel or such). You'll generally want quite a bit of weight in the back for FEL work. When I don't have my backhoe on, I use my brush hog (rather than blade) because it sticks out and provides a nice, low COG counterweight.

My wife still hasn't gotten that concept /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif...

Even with a box blade sometime that rear end feels a little light with a heavy load in the bucket.
i go pretty slow when i have a heavy bucket load.

have fun with you new work toy it is addictive.

chrisjbell,
You are probaly right, it's alot of tractor no matter what tires I have. I plan on bringing in soil to get the final grade I'm looking for anyway. Sure did make a mess this weekend. I do have a lawn tractor. 2002 John Deere LX277.

I am doing some work in a wooded area and I afraid of the extra length that the bush hog would add. Fortunately the material is light, so bucket weight is minimal.

Pretty unnerving when tha rear wheels come off the ground.

Thanks for replying

soarkrebel,
Yep, thinking of adding weight to the box blade to help.
Before I attached it there where so nervous moments with an almost full bucket.

Slow is correct, once I slowed down foward and reverse movement and joy stick controls (had a heavy hand at first) she seemed to handle better.

Just remembered this is a four day so that means I can play (work) Friday and Saturday. Hot Dang!!

Thanks

Congrats on the new toy! Now you have asked about the r1 on lawn for finish mowing? Well no matter what any one says, good or bad, I have been mowing my yard with farm tries for 26 years and my yard is still green!!! Next week is the 26th anniversary of kubota owner ship, (and yard mowing with farm tires). 26 years and have only had to carry a kubota to the shop only once.
By the way, I live in NC also, (been very wet) and back at Christmas, I got my L3130GST.
I wish you well.
