Well, I finally bit the bullet and actually bought (rather then borrow) a rotary cutter,

I'd been using a 48" Deere cutter...can't remember the model number but it's 10-12 years old.

Since I haven't been able to get usage of it this season, figured I'd buy one.

Got a pretty good deal on this 60" Landpride. It's a bit big for my machine (16 PTO HP Deere 670), but I'll just take smaller bites if necessary. Stuff I'm cutting is tall (as high as the cowl of the tractor, but no taller then 5'), but not particularly thick.

Since I plan on upgrading to a higher HP tractor, figured the bigger cutter would be OK. And, the dealer (sells Kubota's) said they sold these for use with B7500's and haven't had any problems. We'll see...

The 3PH picks it up with no problem (got to have the loader on though). Getting this thing off my Ranger using the loader wasn't much fun though. It was raining when I got home and set it up, so I had no oppurtunity to try it out. Biggest hassle is getting the lower link pins aligned to hook up. That 48" Deere unit I'd been using was considerably lighter then this one and easier to move around.

Good cutter, I'm going tonight to pick up my 6' Landpride cutter, 7' MD blade, 6 boxblade scarifier teeth and 300 gal. fuel tank I bought from my boss at work.
This should be a load for my 12' trailer.
So now I have more things to build this winter.
now I can sell the old 5' cutter.

Roy-I have a 6' cutter. I have a 5 foot 2x6 that I use to nudge the cutter in position. Just back the tractor up with the arms fairly close to the correct position. Makes quick work of lining up the pins.

Would love to have one of those, still borrowing my brothers, but that gives him an excuse to use my tractor when it's on there, he loves the hydro. I also noticed the hassle of hooking up and trying to move the heavy mower to attach the 3ph. I found the solution, couldn't believe how easy it makes the hookup.Pics attached

I ordered and have received a set of these. I was going to attach then this weekend, but the tractor's outside and weather was not too good.

It should eliminate having to horse the mower and boxblade around. I can quickly work up a sweat swapping back and forth.

Sounds like you are happy with yours.

Gave that cutter a run on Sunday since it dried up pretty good. I did better then expected, since my little Deere is 4 PTO HP below the minimum recommended horse power for this sized cutter. Wasn't going too fast (1st gear low, reverse low) since the brush was pretty high and I had no idea what was under it.

Stump jumper did it's thing and I was knocking down saplings that appeared to be 1" to 1¼" thick. The ol' 670 never did bog down even though I was taking full bites with that 60" cutter. Got a pic attached to show you what I was cutting. I was also kind of concerned about not having an over running clutch on my PTO. I've heard cutter blade inertia can drive the tractors. No problem...but I'll get that over running clutch very soon.

There's probably about an acre (of ours) like this and a similar amount that belongs to our neighbors. Reckon I'll do his too. Probably 2½-3 acres total. I've some other areas to use it too.

I have the same model. It’s a great attachment! I've already taken down 2" locust trees. They are used for fence posts up my way because the wood is so hard. It has also "mulched" a few limestone rocks that I missed during my walkthroughs. Real noisy when it does that /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I’ve done just a smidgen of my property and a first cut at that. I plan to cut three times a year over the five acres. Hopefully I can keep those ^%(*&@^ locust trees at bay.

Those limestone rocks give the cutter character dents. Mine has its fair share seems I grow rocks. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
