Final Answer!
I visited my NH dealer today for a final decision on the tractor of my choice. My choices were Kubota B3030, NH TC29DA, NH TC33DA. My decision was to go with NH TC33DA. This was a very tough process for me to work through, mainly for the fact that I have never purchased a real tractor before, at least one bigger than that sold by Home Depot or Lowe’s. I have more to deal with than ever before, 5 acres of pasture, which is way past time for cutting, and 3.5 acres of mowing lawn (exmark takes care of this part), 2000 feet of paved driveway, and a host of landscaping projects for the next year.
I took NH up on their incentive program of 0%, 0 down, and 60 months and that allowed me to get a little more tractor for about the same total out of pocket expenses when figuring in finance on the Kubota.
Delivery will consist of the TC33DA HST, 14LA Loader, Bush Hog 60 inch rotary, Bush Hog 72” blade with 12” offset. Yes, NH was a little more than, but I am getting more tractor in the sense of HP at the PTO and the HP to weight ratio is a little better on the 33DA vs. the 29DA, both the same weight. I was previously satisfied with a choice between the B3030 or TC30 prior to my 33DA detour and the creature comfort features really captured me. I really felt good with the platform and driver comfort features, ergonomics of the controls on all three machines is good. The profile of the DA’s with attached loader is much better than the 3030 and TC30. The joystick on the NH models is thoughtfully located at the fender area vs. forward for the Kubota.
The headlight package on NH seems more effective for actual use of the headlights over the Kubota, 4 halogen lamps vs. 2 on 3030. The seat package on the 33DA was nice, though the arm rests on the B3030 were nice, a little flimsy though.
My NH dealer really spent some time with me explaining many things that I should be considering. I first wanted a snow blower attachment and though he would have sold me one without question, he thoughtfully provided evidence that a snow blower may not be the best use of purchase dollars. If I was living in the snowbelt area of NE Ohio, maybe a different story. Given the lack of frequent and major accumulative snowfalls in Central, OH, opting more toward the large blade, which is a year round use item, I saved a couple thousand on that change. The Kubota dealer did give me an impression that he was hesitant to advise or speak to me as a counselor and gave me an impression he was more than ready to sell me, with out question, anything I wanted, practical or not.
As I said previously, I spent a little more for the NH, and I think I will get the follow up service if I should ever need it. A future purchase in sight is a tiller, though I will wait until next spring for that. I am happy with my decision and glad my research and number crunching is over, I will either live with any error in judgment or smile with pride, I think the latter will be the case.
