I recently had my to20 overhauled. It was a extensive overhaul, including boring out cylinders, new pistons, seal, hoses, etc. I've noticed now that there are two holes (possibly for drainage), that have small pieces of metal hanging out (that can't be good), and these holes are dripping what appears to be engine oil. My question is, what are these holes for, and what should I do next (besides contact the person that worked on my tractor). They are located in the section behind the motor, which I believe where the clutch is (see pics).

First off, those "pieces of metal" are ends of cotter pins. They keep those weep holes you're wondering about from clogging. Next, you need to POSITIVELY identify the "oil" as either engine oil OR tranny/hydraulic oil.

The weep holes are there to keep any oil leaking into the bell housing from saturating the clutch. Under normal conditions, the very best of those old Fergies will show a little seepage from the tranny input shaft seal, and possibly the rear gaskets on the oil pan and/or rear main seal.

As mentioned, that's what the weep holes are there for....

Now, after an extensive engine rebuild, I'd expect the rear main/pan gaskets to be sealed. If you have engine oil, go see your mechanic. Input shaft seal????? The tractor will need to be split in order to remedy that problem.

Likely a rear engine (crank) seal. The hole it is dripping from is to allow that engine oil to escape so it doesn't get onto the clutch facings. Sometimes that is possible, and sometimes not.
You mentioned "seal" in the overhaul. Was the rear crank seal replaced?

If it stays off the clutch facings, and isn't causing the clutch to slip, then I'd not do much about it unless just a big nuisance to handle the oil dripping. Bugger to have to deal with tho, I'd admit.

Edit: And what farmwithjunk said while I typed slow. :D

Thanks much for sharing your expertise.I hate the idea of having to have it opened up again. Other than the dripping, it turned out quite nice,

Good looking job! It's almost a "standard feature" on Fergies to drip a LITTLE bit from the weep holes. So long as it's just a few drops after a days work, don't sweat it. Also, once again, make certain if it's engine oil or tranny oil. Very difficult to tell sometimes......
