I am trying to clean the air filter on my ferguson te20 tractor. The oil bath bowl comes off to reveal a wire mesh filter. Question is how do I remove this part of the filter to clean it? I have tried (gently) tapping the rim onto which the bowl fits but without success. Any ideas, thanks in advance. DW.

You don't have to take it apart to clean it. get a 5 gallon bucket, fill it with diesel or gasoline or mineral spirits, etc. Let it sit for a few days, then slosh it around and decant the solvent into another container, pour off the dirt and sludge and pour the solvent back into the bucket and repeat. keep doing this til you have no more sludge at the bottom of the bucket. Let the filter dry out, , install it and fill the oil cup to the proper level. Faithfully change the cup oil per the OEM recommendations. If you're in dirty, dusty conditions you may have to do it daily.
I did this on my TO-30 and it took three tries to clean it up.
did that in the end but it would have been easier if the actual filter came off, then once degunked I could have used the air line to blow rubbish out of the wire wool filter. Many thanks both for your time. rgds DW.
