I have a 1950 Fergy TO-20, when using it with a grader blade to clear snow last week about 45 min. into the job the blade wouldn't drop but a couple inches.
I checked the manual but the trouble shooting guide lists a possible Seized ram due to scored or binding cylinder, binding control valve, or cap screws on lift arms too tight. I've had this tractor for 5 or 6 yrs. and haven't had any previous problems with the lift. When I checked the oil it was milky which I would take to be water. I changed the fluid a couple years ago and refilled with TSC 80/90 wt gear oil. Now I know when I drain it this time to use GL-1 mineral type. The lift did lower after 2 or 3 days setting until I started it up again then it raised back up. Ice maybe?
