fender mount radio

You guys that like to spend weekends with your tractors would really appreciate the latest addition to one of my tractors. I installed a fender mounted radio that I ordered from TSC. Has a really weather tight box and a nice sounding radio. Works great on my little Iseki. Makes mowing seem to go much faster!!

I have considered a radio but how can you hear it over the engine noise? I thought maybe a set of noise protection ear muffs with a radio but it is tough to get a good signal where I live.

stnickstoys do you have any pictures and how is the reception when traveling and is it loud enough to hear over engine does tsc have web sight to view i would love some tunes may spend all my time on tractor

well dave you beat me too it but do ear muffs block out all the noise around the area it worries me of kids coming into the area and not seeing or hearing them

I also have one of the TSC fender mounted radios. I have it on my NH 1920. The radio will play loud enough to be heard.. but it is a sound-battle thing. I prefer to listen to it with a big set of muff style headphones... you can set the voulume very low, and the muffs block out the other noise. The radio seems to play mono by itself, but when you use stereo headphones, it does pick up the other channel, and not just 2 channels of mono... there is panning on the songs that use it ( queen, etc ).

I use a Sony headphone set with a digital radio built into them. No fighting engine noise, no wire running from your pants to your ears, and great recieption on AM and FM. $50.

I wear small foam ear plugs. I like the ear plugs because it cuts the droning engine or mower sounds but lets me hear the radio and any loud unusual machinery sounds. Works well for me. Reception seems to be great and the weather proof box really seals tight. There is also a plug in jack on the side to plug in the earmuff style headphones if you wanted to go that route.

I made a mistake on my supplier info, I buy a lot from both companies. Their prices seem reasonable and I get the stuff in a short time after ordering. The radio actually came from Agri supply not TSC and was $132+shipping.

You might want to check out the C Crane CC radio that I built a bracket for and mounted to the fender of my BX2200. Go to the Kubota owner/operator forum and look at the attachment pictures posted for the Tiny Tach and other add ons. This radio is known for the its excellent AM reception. To hear it and less tractor and to protect my hearing (bad as it is I don't want to lose more) I use the Pro Ears DPM2 hooked into the radio's earphone mike. The Pro Ears are discussed in a thread on the safety forum.

I can vouch for the superiority of the CC Radio. Best radio I've ever owned and I use it to sit here in Missouri and listen to San Antonio, Chicago and a few other 50,000watt AM radio stations.

And mounted on the tractor would give an operator the added bonus of an early NOAA Weather Alert in case you are working away from the house when bad weather is moving in on you.
