Yesterday the M-I-L came up and was going to take the wife and kids shopping. When she got to our house we still hadn't unlocked the doors and ventured out. We were kinda having a lazy day playing with the kids and we were just then getting our showers and such. When we finally heard the door and let her in she was talking about this "big dog that was growling and showing his teeth" at her. After I get my shower I wonder outside to see this "big dog." He was a pretty big dog. I decided this was a little more then I wanted to go at bare-handed. Just so happend the wife's tree pruners were there on the deck - that was going to be my defense mechanism. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I tried shooing the dog away. That just brought him that much closer to me. Finally he got right to me. He was just a big slobbering puppy. I got his tag number and started to call the pound. The wife already had, I called them anyway with the tag number. They called the owner while I was still on the phone and said that they would be here shortly.

When the guy showed up, he was an older gentleman (60s - 70s I say) walking with a limp. He was so happy to get his dog back. He had been hunting for him since about 10:30 - it was now 2:00. As he was there getting the dog, he saw my tractor. He really liked it and we talked about it for a little bit, then he asked how much I paid so that he could feel bad. I was /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif, he had bought a JD 2210 last fall with a 62"MMM, and the loader for it this spring. He then asked how many HP my NH was and I told him, he told me the 2210 was 32 - had to break his heart and tell him it was only like 21 or 22 and he was "Oh, I bet that is what the 22 stands for." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Then we went back to talking about "Toby" - the dog. He just kept saying thanks. Then he told the dog to get in the truck. Toby went to the passenger door. The man said, "No, you are riding in the back. You'll get the windshield all dirty." /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The guy let the tailgate down and the dog hopped up in the back of the truck and away they went.

It felt good to be able to help the guy get his buddy back. I know I sure would've been happy if someone would have returned our dog that came up missing a couple of months ago. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. I've attached a picture of Kasey that I had taken just a couple of weeks before she disappeared.

Very cool. Wonder if the dog was just watching the "door" for anyone that he did not recognize, as he would for his owner at home. This is a feel good story for sure, thanks for sharing.

jwester:

that dog of you're almost looks just like one that appeared @ our farm about last week!, It was out front, and wanted to hop into the car with us, sad looking and very lost looking... didn't belong to us or any of the neibors that I know of... (you know the tag #? if I see the pup againe, I'll try and get it to come up to us and check it out... I'm in Jeromesville Ohio north of mansfield... not sure if it is you're but sure was nearly a dead on match... I did not see it today though...

I get visited by all the neibors dogs as there are abotu 10 locally adn I just figured this was a NEW visitor... it was out by the road and seemed kind of lost...

I hadn't gotten around to putting her 2004 tag on /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif, but she did have a red 2003 Ross County tag on. If it is her, when she left she had a blue collar on. I would appreciate if you could check it. That would be awesome as he!!. I would get to make a trip to Jeromesville and get to meet another TBNer and get my dog back!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well, yes and no. We would normally let her out if we were going to be outside. Normally she didn't wander to far. She would normally follow me or the neighbor around if we were mowing or bush-hogging and chase the mice and ground moles. You could then holler for her and she would come right back. On July 7th, Monica and the kids were out playing/working in the yard and Kasey went for a little strole down around the creek that runs through our property and that was the last we had seen of her. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Spent the better part of a week driving around looking for her and going to the pound.

We now have a couple of black lab/golden retrievers. Helped take the kids mind away from Kasey a little bit, but every now and then Keagan will say "Daddy, where's Kasey?" I almost cry when I have to tell him, "I don't know, buddy."

I'll attach a picture of Holly....as in New Holland /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif after a hard day of play right after we got them.
