Fell of tractor, run over by the mower.

As a medical provider I have seen many victims of accidents. In many of these cases injuries could have been minimized with the use of ROPS and a seat belt. I never get on my tractors or TLB without use of the belt and have instructed my family to do the same. If necessary equipment can be replaced, a life can not. A man was killed near here a few months ago when he fell off the back of a tractor and was chewed up by a shredder. My condolences and prayers go out to the family for their loss.

No mention about new tractors and the safety kill switches they employ?

Knew a woman that was bush hogging her fields and ran over something (I believe it was a mounting block) which tossed her from the tractor. The mower got her pretty good. She was able to call 911 from her cell phone, but she had passed by the time the ambulance reached her. A seat belt would have easily saved her life.

Seems to be the season again. The story below is a friend of the family.

Former Windsor boy maimed by lawn mower

That's a shame. I'm disappointed that they're suing. I don't like blaming people when it comes to accidents, but if I had to make a list for this one the parents would be higher up on it than the operator...

It difficult to find deaths to the driver when the driver uses the ROPS and seatbelt. Without using the seatbelt...you are endangering yourself...you
cannot jump off if the tractor rolls and you might be killed by the ROPS as
it comes over. Thanks Doc! Good observation...

I wonder about that, not like a car where your inside. I'm not sure I want to be strapped to a tractor rolling over fence posts, rocks etc.
Want a seat belt on a motorcycle? Just saying.

I think a seat belt on a motorcycle would be a good thing if it was equipped with a satisfactory full roll bar. My 1958 Simplex had a short roll bar that was supposed to protect your legs in a sidewards slide but nothing to hold you in the seat.
