I was doing some fel work yesterday and noticed that when I had the bucket tilted all the way back with a full load it would eventually tilt forward on its own. When I was traveling the full length of my driveway (about 700 ft) I would have to re-tilt it once or twice during the trip.

I’m pretty sure this isn’t normal. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I looked for any obvious leeks but didn’t see any.

Sean

FYI I have a DK35 w/ KL1450 loader

I have the same equipment as you. Have not carried much dirt yet. My 1/2 cents worth is I would not think it is normal myself. Could there be hydraulic fluid seepage from the hydraulic cylinders inside/through the FEL control box back into the hydraulic system? That you would never notice externally. I do know I can leave my bucket high in the air for hours and it never seems to move (lower) on its own even with the tractor shut off.

The up/down is sold as a rock, never moves. It’s just the bucket tilt. I’ve had the bucket full of firewood and noticed it once or twice coming off the full tilt position but with a full load of top soil it was a lot more noticeable. Not sure about the internal leakage thing or how to check it?

SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE SEEPAGE THRU EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER TILT CLYLINDERS OR THE VALVE
PUT LOAD ON BUCKET LIFT UP, CUT TRACTOR OFF AND LISTEN TO HEAR WHERE FLUID IS LEAKING BY

Bill,

I’ll try that this weekend if I get a chance.

What exactly am I listening for and how obvious is it?

Neither problem “SEEPAGE THRU EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER TILT CLYLINDERS OR THE VALVE” sounds like an easy fix.

Sean, I'm having that same problem. I'm calling my dealer which is about 1.5 hours away to see if there is a fix I can do without taking my DK35 to him. If not I guess I'll take her in. It's not a big problem but irritating at times when moving dirt. Let me know what you find out and as soon as I get an answer I'll add it to this subject.

You’re lucky; my tractor was bought 3 hrs away. I tried what Bill said last weekend. I had the bucket filled with fire wood and then shut the tractor off. I did hear and “fluid moving”. I could hear a slight popping or clicking sound about every 45 sec to a minute as the bucket was dropping. It was coming from one of the cylinders.

The bad part is I found a dealer only 50 Miles away but for warranty work you have to take it back to where you bought it. I’m close to 80 hrs on my tractor; I thought about taking it in for a 100 hr service and have it looked at then. I know they deliver, I wonder if they pick up?

Let me know if you find a do-it-your-self fix.
