A while back I was attempting to grease the FEL zerks that are recessed. I thought I was never going to get the grease gun off. I actually had to unscrew the end and took a small screw driver to get it to release. Anyone else have trouble with this? I looked at getting a Lock N Lube end for gun but wasn't sure if it would release due to the tight tolerance in the recess. Any suggestions?

Loosen your grease coupler. It should be adjustable.

The Lock N Lube may not work there but it's worth it for elsewhere.
Did you loosen the coupler?
A blast from the past:
The coupler tips (i.e. the part that snaps onto the zerk) on most grease guns are adjustable to fit different size zerks. If this adjustment is cranked down all the way it will allow you to install the coupler onto a zerk but not remove it. Try turning the case of the tip while holding where it screws onto the hose. You should begin to see some really fine threads on the casing itself (i.e. not where it screws onto the hose). Adjust the tip as needed to fit your different size zerks - it only needs to be tightned just enough to where grease does not squirt out around the zerk when pumping grease.

Personally, I always leave my coupler rather loose so it is easy to install/remove and just hold pressure on the coupler with one hand while I pump grease with the other hand. (note: I only use a pistol grip grease guns which can be operated with 1 hand which leaves the other hand available to keep pressure on the coupler. I hate the traditional long lever guns which require 2 hands to operate the pumping action.)
/edit - murphy beat me to it while I was looking for a good quote :)

Well that was easy enough. I never knew the coupler was adjustable like that. Never noticed there were threads there. Course my eyes aren't what they use to be. Thanks newbury and murphy.

Happened to me when I got a new grease gun and forgot to loosen the tip before latching on to one of my front loader zerks. The tip was super tight from the factory, and I couldn't loosen by hand, plus I could hardly get tools in there to get a grip. All this while standing on my trailer on the side of the road where I thought it would be a "quick" unload. Lots of cussing that day.

I guess I should of done a search but I didn't think I would come up with anything. Lol.

Yes, Oh Lord, Yes. I had my tip on my grease gun buried into one of the recessed zerks on the FEL and I thought it was going to end up being a permanent fixture. I had to disassemble the entire tip and loosen it up a bit.

I got the Lock-N-Lube unit last summer. It just fits into the holes for the recessed zerks on the FEL. Makes removal a snap.

BTW - some grease nozzle tips ARE NOT adjustable - I had a non-adjustable one on my Lincoln and replaced it with an adjustable one.

Yes, my Lock N' Lube works on our XR4046HC loader. I am sold on the LNL. Thought the price was high ($30) when I ordered one for my manual gun and one for air powered gun until I installed and used them.
