We are putting together everything for a FEL build, it looks like we may get an older FEL that we will customfit to our tractor.
Our question is this, the Hydraulic pump on there now is 3.7 gpm, and runs the 3pt hitch stuff. We have heard two different opinions. One is that will be fine for our FEL and we can use adapters and simply use it.
Other opinion is that will be too slow? In that case we would have two options, one would be try to locate a faster GPM midmount unit to replace our 3.7gpm, the other is to add a pump on the front of the tractor on the crankshaft?
Dad says the crankshaft is sticking out several inches and splined, etc so it appears to be built to drive "something"
What I cannot find or figure out is a pump that is meant to work with that front crankshaft? If I look at the 40+ pumps at Generators, Pressure Washers, Heaters and Stoves, Snow Blowers, Trailer Parts, and more from NorthernTool.com they all seem to have a smooth bore/spindle with a flat space on each side? I dont see how that would attach to the crankshaft unless you add a belt or something?
Please help the newbies, thanks in advance for the help!!
We don't want to go the rear mounted PTO pump route btw, too much hassle removing or modifying all the other 3pt hitch stuff.
