Have a Fecon FTX-140 running a BH-85 head and I want to run chipper knives mixed in with the carbide teeth. Does anyone know what pattern won't mess the balance up? I have run them all the way around the rotor in the center three rows before and that worked well on my BH-99. I was thinking that I could run them anywhere on the rotor as long as they is another one directly opposite. Has anyone tried this before?

I just removed a few of my chipper knife holders off of my BH-99 and I was ready to torch the bolts off. Those chipper knives beat the heck out of the large bolt (36mm head) the threads are all galled and the nut didn't want to come off. It fought me the whole way. This happened the last time I ran these, so I coated the threads with never-seize and it didn't help. I love the way the knives cut but they don't want to come off. Anyone have this happen?

I always went full set and did not mix. I didn't have any trouble removing the bolts but I was only pushing 99 hp not 200 hp like your machine.

How's that thing mowing, you get her out yet?

Hey Ted, I think because those knives are able to bite so hard there is a ton of stress there. That's the problem with the Fecon running knives compared to your DC head, you have the steel that gives it a consistent bite. I have only put about 10 hours on the 140. The ground is still real soft by me. Should be heading out with it this week. I'll let you know.

I put them on every other holder, start as close to the side as you can.You will have the same amount of carbides and chippers. Like 24and24,if you have any left over there not even.

That's what I was thinking. As long as you have the same amount on each row then it shouldn't throw the balance out. Its a lot of work to change out the holders just to experiment. Thanks for the info.

i used the knives (beaver teeth) on a bh250, broke many tool carriers, however if you are careful and not to aggressive they will cut like ****
