I have a new Fecon head that I am VERY happy with. It is so far superior to the previous mulching head I used that there is no comparison.

I do have an area of concern as I do not know the correct answer. I need to try to get in contact with Fecon tech support but so far have not been able and most of the time it is after hours before I can try to call them.

The question is regarding the proper tension on the drive belt tensioning. A separate issue is the manual led me to believe that there were belts on both sides of the unit to check the tension on but I only find a belt on the right side. The binder contains three different manuals in one binder.

The Bull Hog Operation/Safety General Maintenance Manual states on page 31 (see jpg below) to set the Tension on a V-belt at 96ft/lbs for 5/16" deflection and on a polychain 133 ft/lbs for 5/16" deflection.

The BH074SS Part Manual on page 79 (see jpg below) states to set the Tension on a V-belt at 30 lbs for 5/16" deflection and on a polychain 40 lbs for 5/16" deflection.

Does any one know what you are supposed to set the tension at? I am not really certain about the ft-lbs quantity as I have always seen a belt tension spec'ed at "X" lbs for "Y" deflection. The ft lbs to me is a torque spec not a belt spec.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The parts manual is correct and we will get the manual changed so both references are the same and correct. You want to apply Y lbs of downforce and the belt should move X amount.
Glad you love your new mulcher.
