Fav 60\'s Movies

As a follow-up to bigpete's thread, what's your favorite and most memorable 60's movies?

For me it was in the following order:

Sound of Music
Dr. Zhivago
Lawrence of Arabia
Bridge on the River Kwai
The Great Escape
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
The rest of Clint Eastwood's 'spagetti' westerns
Once Upon A Time In The West (Henry Fonda's darkest role he's ever played and the most haunting music of any movie that I remember)
Paint Your Wagon (Clint actually sings quite well in this one)
The Longest Day
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Wild Bunch

Well, I am realy a little young to have seen meny movies during the 60's, but I have to say that I agree with rancar on one of his choices. Paint your wagon was a very funny movie.

Geeze, this requires a lot more thought than remembering favorite 60's tv shows.

A few movies that come to mind for me are:

Jack the Giant Killer - 1962
The War Wagon - John Wayne and Kirk Douglas
All other John Wayne westerns
The Train - Burt Lancaster
All Clint Eastwood westerns
The Green Beret - John Wayne
Bonnie and Clyde - Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway
Shenandoah - Jimmy Stewart

'Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid' with Dylan, Kristofferson and James Coburn had to be in the early to mid seventies. I remember seeing the movie and getting the soundtrack album when I was in college. Decent movie, outstanding soundtrack featuring 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door.'

'Easy Rider' with Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and, in his first major role and a mass release movie, a very young Jack Nicholson who won a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work there. Another movie with a great soundtrack. Who doesn't remember John Kay and Steppenwolf belting out 'Born to be Wild' from that film?

You are right, 1973........I don't know how I was so far off on that one. Easy Rider,I believe that was probably Peter Fondas biggest moment.

The Apartment with Jack Lemmon

Elmer Gantry with Burt Lancaster

A Man for All Seasons - The story of Sir Thomas More

In the Heat of the Night with Sidney Potier and Rod Steiger

Midnight Cowboy with Dustin Hoffman as Ratzo Rizzo (gotta love that name)

Spartacus with Kirk Douglas and about a million extras

101 Dalmations - the first time through

The Graduate with the famous Dustin Hoffman line, "Why, Mrs. Robinson... Are you trying to seduce me?"

Oceans Eleven with the ratpack

Oh, if you catch Easy Rider and early 70's, then you got to have seen "Vanishing Point"! That Challenger was hot!

Dan Haggerty remade the "Captian America" bike just a while back... Somebody stole the real bikes just as filming ended for the movie. They probably parted them out before they would have been $$$ after the movie came out.
