Has anyone on Earth ever succeeded in killing faux bamboo completely?!
I've tried to find ways to reduce and eventually eliminate the HUGE area of this incredibly invasive plant to no avail.
I'll try anything to get rid of it, before my wife gets rid of me. My excavator won't go near it- he has it in his yard....
HELP! Chemicals, toxic waste, nuclear waste, what?!

Never heard of faux bamboo. Google searches bring up furniture. Got any pictures of the stuff?

I would try a heavy dose of 2-4D amine. It will kill trees so it should kill bamboo.

Try Googling "invasive species faux bamboo". There will be plenty to read. I have not seen this yet in my area and don't want to either!

Could it be Japanese Knotweed? It has segmented stalks and looks like bamboo. It's spreading around ne PA like a wildfire in a windstorm. Very hard to eradicate.

The stuff is spreading everywhere. It's especially obnoxious near water, as it's detrimental to fish. Don't try to mow it, or if you do make sure you clean your mower well afterwards. Digging it will make it worse, as each little piece of root has the potential to make a plant.
Try spraying it in springtime when the shoots are young. It will take more than one treatment, so be patient. My father killed a patch about 40 years ago with Roundup; if I know him though, it may have been a hotter dose than recommended.

I've got knotweed. It doesn't look like bamboo. Bees love it. It stinks, and its hard to kill, too.

Not while it green, but Japanese Knotweed looks like bamboo in late Fall after the leaves fall off and the canes dry out. And if you burn it, with any moisture left in it, you can hear these segmented sections popping the same as bamboo.
