I have a 2 acre lawn in south Louisiana. For a while, I was torn between the G and BX. Well, like most, I have leaned toward the BX although the G would be more than enough to cut my grass. Then why the BX? Well I can get a G for $7500, and a BX for $9700. Well, who could pass up so much more tractor for that small of a gap? I have even read from people who where looking at the TG and decided the BX was worth the jump. (which is about $3700) What am I getting at? WHERE ARE ALL THE G2160/2460 OWNERS? Are there any? Are they selling? Let's assume a couple of things: 1) anyone who spends this kind of money on a tractor, even $7500 on a garden tractor, will have some kind of pride of ownership and eventually find this website. (we all did) I have seen no G2160 owners on this site which makes me assume.... 2) They are not selling. Why? Because for a few more bucks you can get a BX. (countless people here can vouch for this) So what does Kubota do to get there G to sell? Widen the price gap between the G and BX? I dont see the G going down in price. Especially since they just revamped the design to get the retail price down by $1000.00. And who can complain, the G is an awesome value compared to it's JD price equivalant, the 355d. (which specs much like the TG) So with that said, do they go up on the price of the BX? Sales have proven IT is already an awesome value. So do they add a few things like a tach, two speed PTO, etc. and raise the price? ...Or do they not change the BX at all, and still raise the price in an attempt to move these newly designed Gs that have not left the showroom floor? Am I WAY out in left field here? Surely it has to strike a light bulb in someone's head when the BX is selling like crazy, and the G is not selling at all because they are so closely priced. Am I the only one that sees it this way, or all are the G owners hanging out on another website?

Concerned about BX price,
-Ben

Boner, I think we discussed this sometime back. The G and the TG are GT's (lawnmowers) and the BX is a small utility tractor that is well suited, even intended for mowing as primary duty. You will not find many GT owners at this utility tractor site so why would you expect to hear from them here? Another thing, Kubotas are not as well known among the LT and GT set as they are among tractor users so for every one Kubota GT sold I bet JD sells two dozen and Sears sells a couple of hundred. I suggest the Lawn and Garden forum which is oriented to the "tractor" styled lawnmowers so popular these days among the suburbon crowd. Not intended as a putdown, your just not going to find many lawnmower owners here ( I could be wrong as usual). J

"your just not going to find many lawnmower owners here "

I think your right and wrong. While most people on this site probably own at least a utility tractor. I would bet that a large percentage of them just mow grass with them (for the most part). When I shopped, ALL I needed was a lawnmower. But You led me to the to this site and the BX from "the other site" and much to my pleasure I found a truely unique machine. Capable of SO much but still fits in the back corner of a 2 stall garage. I looked at the T the TG and the G. Frame structure / durability led me to the TG minimum. From there it was the small price point differences that drove me up to the BX. I stopped at the BX because the B would simply begin to be a detriment due to it's larger size. I really think that this is how the progression goes for many people. Perhaps not from the T, but certainly from the G.
That said, there will always be those that will/can (I can't) stop when their needs are met, even though for a few bucks more... etc They are the ones who end up with $$ in the bank (I don't). I wish it would rain, I haven't been able to cut for over a week.

Trescrows, what we discussed sometime back was if the Bx was worth the extra money. We agreed that it was, and Kubota sales also sings the same tune. This is not about GT vs UT. This is about M-O-N-E-Y, and how much of it it takes to BUY A KUBOTA bx, and if the "Buying A Kubota" forum is not the place to post this, then please point me to the more suitable board. I am here because this is where all the BX discussions are. I am not here to compare your tractor to a lawnmower, but if this "lawnmower" causes the price of the BX to rise, then I consider this to be an issue for those of us who are considering BUYING A KUBOTA bx. I just noticed Carver went down on their prices. That combined with interest rates, and the info in my previous post just might add up to now being the time to get a BX.

Rouge knows where I am coming from. We are in the same boat. Dont own a farm, just want a quality piece of equipment to take care of our piece of the earth. Our desire for quality drove us to Kubota, and our need to research where to spend our hard earned cash drove us here. We both looked at the formentioned "mowers," PRICE DIFFERENCE led us to the consider the BX. I am sure we are not alone. That is what this post is about. Maybe some of the 'Kubota dealer type' people can add their 2cts on whether or not there is some validity to what I am saying, or are the G sales doing well, just not in my area.

Ben, I agree that this is the place for the discussion, but I'm not sure I understand what your concerns are. If you're seriously considering buying a BX, and if you're thinking that the price may go up, then it seems like you'd want to promptly buy one for two reasons: (1) get it before prices go up, and (2) if prices go up on new ones, that just means that those who already have one will have a better resale value if they ever want to sell or trade it. Am I missing something here?

I started out looking at cheap lawn tractors. Then I saw a BX. Decided I wanted a "real" tractor, so I bought a BX. Three weeks later I decided I wanted a "realer" tractor, so I traded my BX for a 2910. Now I've decided I may want an even "realer" tractor so I'm thinking of a JD 4400. Throughout this entire progression I have been an avid reader of this forum and, later, a participant in the forum.

I think this is exactly the right place to be for someone who is trying to decide between a lawn machine and a tractor. If prices on the BX go up, Ben may very well decide to buy the G or some other lawn machine. In the meantime he will have been educated and better informed for having participated here, and so will all the rest of us. Maybe, for example, my knowledge base may be shaped in the direction of buying some new lawn machine as an adjunct to a diesel tractor.

Education affects eternity; you never know where its influence will end.

Bird, I think I can clarify this a bit...
I think Boner is just initiating conversation regarding the unusual price structure Kubota has implemented on their product line. I also find it curious. I think Boner has already decided if not yet purchased the BX.
He raises a valid point, who is buying these G and TG tractors. I think probably people who have small lots and or very tight cashflows. They exist. Sometimes its easy to forget that there are peole less fortunate than us. I only need a TG but I am fortunate to have decent credit so thanks to mister greenspan, I have a nice BX2200.
I like interesting conversations like this on the forum. I get tired of some of the technical (though usefull I'm sure) posts.

Read what I said again, Boner was looking for imput from other T/TG owners and I said I do not think you will find many here but perhaps in the Lawn and Garden forum you would. You want someone to help you make that decision and I directed both of you here (Boner and Roque and a few others I think) to get info on the BX and other UT tractors but I am now telling you that to get info on something like a TG there will not be much here for THAT type machine. I am NOT telling you NOT to discuss this topic--happy too and I feel for your indecision and "money" situation. I am sorry that I cannot give you more info on the smaller lawn tractors or that not many people here have them. Yes, Roque, for the most part everyone here is a hobbiest and use their tractors mostly for mowing with some exceptions of course.
Anyway--sorry you guys misunderstood---I am just telling you--lot's of BX info here but not many guys it seems with LTand GT type machines to draw opinions from. Again sorry you misunderstood what I was saying.
My opinion, get the BX even if it means saving money for next year to do it--price go up--yes probably but Simplicity and JD will both be fielding a competitor I bet for the BX so competition will keep price hikes under control--my bet any price increases will be small. Again sorry for upsetting both of uuuse guys. J

OK, Rogue, I think I understand a little better. So my response to Boner (and it's only a guess) is that there won't be any major changes. I think there will still be a lot of people who have large enough lots to want a "riding lawnmower" and who can afford the high end ones, but who will have no interest in "tractors" so I expect there to be a market for both.

Boner, here is another reason I would get the BX and not LT even if it was a financial sacrifice. Not sure the scanned pic will transmit clear but that is our BX with two creasote soaked railroad ties and me in on the bucket! J
