FarmTrac 270DTC
I am debating my first tractor purchase. Mostly what I will be doing is lawn/pasture mowing and FEL work dealing with a small horse farm. Th two tractors it is coming down to is the FarmTrac 270DTC and the NH TC30. I have ben looking at gear drives because of price but reading some things on this forum it soundes like a HST might be better for mostly mowing and FRL work. Any thoughts on these two tractors?

No answers yet. Well, let me try here for you. The Farmtrac is the same base tractor as the Montana 2740 I believe. The Montana has standard rear remotes, your choice of Titan R1, Turf or R4 tires (no extra cost) and some other nice features. I say this only that if the Farmtrac has the same it is an awesome tractor.

Even without the rear remotes I like the LG manufactured tractor over this New Holland model. I do not know what the loader on the Farmtrac is either so I can't make a comparison on those but my leaning would be to the Farmtrac with my experience with the LG manufactured tractors.

Cost is a factor but I would drive both and see what fits the best. Both are capable tractors. I think the 320DTC is also a consideration for the added HP.

In my opinion with my limited knowledge of Farmtrac (very limited) I would think the 270 will be enough.

If you can spend the extra money on the hydro then it sounds like they would be a very good choice for you given the nature of the work you intend to do.

Hope this helps.

Maka,

Thank you for your opinion on the TC30 vs 270DTC. Specification wise the two tractors are very simular. If I don't go with an HST at least the FarmTrac has a shuttle drive vs the NH straight gear drive. The NH also has a midmout finish mower but I hope in a couple of years to get something dedicated to mowing that would be easier and faster than a tractor. Also FarmTrac might be coming out with 0% for 48 months in June. That beats the 36 months from NH.

Any one else want to chime in on these two tractors?

Hey there,

We are a FarmTrac dealer and just wanted to echo the comments Maka had about the FT270 (or the Montana equivelant). They are great machines, smooth operation, and plenty of capability for their price/hp range.

Farmtrac will come out with 0% for 48months starting next Monday and will continue until the end of June. It is by far the best financing deal anywhere. This is an annual thing FarmTrac does, they call it the "FarmTrac Frenzy"...I know we are looking forward to it and hopefully it will help you make your final choice a little easier /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions.
