farmpro no reverse.

Hello, I'm new to the forum but i have visited here off and on for a few years without posting. I found a 2004 farmpro 40hp 4x4 for sale locally. The listing doesn't say anything other than it has a FEL and Hoe, no model number, hours, or any other details other than it says it has no reverse. I looked around and all i can find is data on a 2005 4010 and 4020. I cannot find anything on a 2004. Anyway i'm guessing that these have a gearbox? and are not hydro? I emailed 2 online farmpro parts stores and asked for availability on parts if its a hydro/gear trans. I wouldn't mind picking it up for a decent deal if parts are available that i can fix it myself. Is this a normal occurance for reverse to go out?

I think some clarification is needed, as I don't think the 40hp models were introduced until 2005. Can you obtain the info from the data plates? The engine plate is typically on either the valve cover or the side of the block. The tractor plate is typically inside one of the rear fenders or on the side of the transmission housing. But regardless, they're dual-sump geared tractors. No hydrostats were marketed in the US.

If he gets back with me i will either ask him for more details on the data plates, or go check it out in person if i have the time today. Thats what i found, everything in the 40hp was after 05. Maybe he just has the years messed up or the HP rating wrong.

He could have feasibly purchased a MY2005 in calendar year 2004, and simply considers the year of purchase vice the manufacturer model year. But FarmPro sold a 40hp Jinma and a 40hp Foton, and that's why the info from the data plates is necessary. No sense offering troubleshooting tips when the make and model isn't even known yet.
