Just got done baling some hay and testing some hay with my moisture tester. Most of the hay I bailed was a lagume grass mix being my 3rd cut this year it was mostly alfalfa. I also planted a small pasture with all grass hay and bailed that. My readinging of the grasses was alot higher on my moisture readings that my lagume stand. Both cut at the same time and both cure time the same aprox 5 days although we hav had due in mourning and fog.

My question is does grass take longer to dry or am I just hitting spots in the bail reading high? Anyone come across this?

I see in the manual that it says the more grass in the hay the higher the moisture reading is. Because the tester is calibrated too alfalfa. But it does not give a reading it should be for grass hay. I am rading aprox 20-25% all grass and 14% on my alfalfa.

I know more people here use this farmex hand held readeir what do you get for grass hay?
