Hi everyone. this Thread is going to be about the complete restoration of my 1958 Farmall cub. I bought it a while back as a resto project but havent had time to work on it. when I bought it a 12v battery was hooked up to it. cant that fry the whole ignition system if it has a 6v system? I think I did. well anyway, as I do this restoration, I will post pics, (if I can figure out how to) so everyone can see how its turning out. I might sell it after its fixed up, I dont Know. Any pointers or helpful comments would be very much appreciated.

Would like to do one of them myself. I like that year too because it is as old as I am. Looking forward to the posts on this.

Sounds like an excellent project.
Take lots of photos and let them tell a lot of the story.

Great project. Been working on one myself. One thing you need to know is a true/complete rebuild is going to cost some cash, in the long run more than what you can sell it for. I have torn my down, I mean all the way down. Every single thing was sand blasted/cleaned/stripped/primed and painted. Every bearing and seal was replaced, a new rad purchased, new hoses, belts, tires,etc... Really fun but takes a ton of time, still not done but slowly getting there.
Check your fuel system, the tank may need coated inside due to rust, of course change all filters. The carb can be professionally rebuilt for around $130 if you don't want to deal with it.
The front tubes can be a BIG pain to get apart (the tubes slide inside another to allow you to widen the front end) - may need heat and start soaking it in penetrating oil soon as you start thinking about doing it - they are sometime rust welded together.
Farmallcub. com is a great site for info on the cubs. Also a lot of links to service manuals, serial # references, etc...
Good luck and enjoy your cub!

Just be careful if you plan to rebuild the engine. See this thread I started last year on restoring a 1948 Cub.

Restorations can get spendy very quickly. Now I'll have to invest $1K or so for a new short block engine if and when I decide to complete this job.

thanks you guys. Im still having trouble with posting pictures, could I get some help with that?

I am using a laptop, with the pictures stored in "My Documents"/"My Pictures". I created a folder "4 TBN", that I copy pictures into that I want to post.

Double click Reply With Quote or Reply to Thread, This puts you in the advanced mode and opens a form to type in.
At the top there are three rows of icons, Insert Image is in the middle row, sixth icon from the right. Click
Insert Image, click From Computer (if not highlighted), click Select Files, find the folder with your pictures, click the ones you want, click open, click upload files, push the space bar after each one loads, to make it easier to click on when viewing the post.

Click Preview Post at the lower right to see if you need to make any changes, then click Submit Reply.

There are other procedures for pictures stored on the internet, but I don't do that.

Ask for more details if you need to.
