I have a farm pro 2425 with FEL that I'm having some problems with blowing the hydraulic pump (2 gone in a year). It started last fall suddenly locking up while using the FEL, It would lock up and stop the engine with a loud clunk. The 3rd time sheared the hydraulic pump shaft. Ordered a new pump and asked some local farmers if they had any thoughts on the problem. Most replies were you get what you pay for? but did get some useful recommendations as to the possible problem. I drained the fluid ( it was milky tan color) and filled with kerosene and flushed the reservoir, lines and cylinders, then drained and filled with new fluid. operated they controls to flush it with hyd fluid and drained.I repeated this step again to ensure good clean fluid. Everything seemed fine and operated fine until about 3 months later (I don't use the front end loader all the time) when it locked up and stalled the engine again. Restarted and tried to finish what i was doing and wham it sheared the shaft of the pump again. Its in the barn right now and I have the new pump already in fluids all replaced and flushed through just like i did last time except this time I pulled the seat and checked the pick up screen which there isn't one? yes i said there wasn't one, I thought it was to have a brass screen but there is simply the can shaped piece with holes and no screen? So before I go and blow another pump I'm hoping someone can tell me whats wrong so it can be fixed first. This has really been a good tractor and has handled everything I've thrown at it. I purchased it new in 2007 ( it is a 2004) and other than a few electrical issues and the rookie mistake of disconnecting the FEL lines while it was running after having it 2 day's (which blew the pump seals and needed a new pump) there havent been any real problems. Any help or information would be appreciated
Thank you

Check your hydraulic quick connects, if you don't have oil flow (which is what your symptoms describe, a locked up engine or sheared pump shaft) the system dead heads and something's gonna give, hoses, pump, etc. There might be a problem somewhere else in the sytem but the majority of the time it's in the quick connects
It's a fairly common complaint, people removing the front end loader and forgetting to couple the lines back together and wham, good bye pump. Some people even go so far as to put a pressure relief in the system directly off the pump.....Mike

I would check your pressure relief setting, sounds like it is not opening or it is opening really high.
