Cannot get oil plug out on JD f525. Afraid I'll break alluminum housing. Any ideas?

Drill it out, and avoid the risk of breaking the aluminum housing. Start small and keep it as centered as possible. Work up in bit size only until the female threads are showing, the peel the rest away carefully to not ruin any of the threads.

A pity that some think oil plugs need to be tightened so tight. Snug is good.

Mine has a "T" shaped drain screwed into the original hole. You don't have to take the plug out, just loosen the petcock. If you get yours out, you might check into one of these. Don't know if it's factory or not, bought the mower used. ~~ grnspot110

am125138, this only came onlater model units. Should work in any version (I think) thought does not help you with your current situation. Great little mowers but tough to work on the engines.

The F525 is "tough to work on", period! But I really like mine anyway! I've only used mine one full season, but like it better (for my house yard) than the zero turn I had before. ~~ grnspot110
