Need advice on my F510 electric clutch that quit.
I have an F510 with 600 that has had excellent care. Over the winter, the battery failed and I had to 25 amp charge to get it going. With the dead battery in, the clutch failed to engage once and then engaged. The did again and then didn't. Now it won't at all with new battery installed.
It's in an awkward spot right now but I checked the elec clutch fuse only and it looked fine. I'll change it just in case but looking to see where the clutch is even located since I might have knocked a wire loose.
I'll check to see if power gets to the clutch but after that I'm looking for any advice others may offer. Thank you.

Do you have the tech manual? That would surely help diagnose the problem.

jdparts might show the location of the clutch too.

I only have an owner's manual and there is almost no mention of the elec clutch. This tractor is so hard to see under or even find wires. I'm going to change all four fuses and see if I might have knocked a wire loose when I took the deck off last fall to clean. I understand big tractors but all thumbs with this thing.
If I can figure out where the clutch is I can see if it's getting power and that would eliminate the switch. Seems like, or maybe this is wishful thinking, it's either a loose wire or a bad switch.

Go to jdparts and look up the 510 model. You will see the F510 and then go to PTO Switch. There you will see the wiring harness with different parts identified.
Also can look at the PTO clutch and see the two different brands that may be on your F510. Might be a big help. Power at the switch would be my first check. Then power at the clutch. Some adjustment may be necessary at the clutch if it has not been adjusted in awhile.

Thank you, problem now solved. I went to the JD website and tried to figure it out with little success so I started by checking the switch and found I had power going into the switch. I picked up a switch at JD locally and that's what it was. Problem solved and mowing done. By the way, the electric clutch is under the mower--in the worst possible access place.
My F510 with a 38" mower is perfect for fitting between my rows of trees and odd corners. I cut the rest with a bigger mower but this little F510 is a great mower and will turn on a dime. I'm so glad this was an easy fix.
