My Kubota F1900 won't start. It's a 3 cyl diesel engine.
It cranks and fires, runs rough for 15-45 seconds then dies. I have replaced both fuel filters, verified there is diesel being pumped through (opened bleed screw), removed air cleaner (in case of blockage), now cleaned and refitted.
When it is running it will only run at wide open throttle, if I try to throttle down it dies immediately.
Diesel was fresh and from the same container I've always used.
I've posted a video here : www.youtu.be/giSLeQpWFYw

Someone has suggested "stuck fuel rack in pump" but I don't think they've watched the video.

With out any doubt... it is having a fuel delivery problem...

When you restart after the stall, do you have to bleed the injectors again before it will restart?

No. I've only bled it once. Just tried starting again now and it started and ran for about 5 secs.
I can't easily drop the fuel tank out so I was going to go and buy a short piece of fuel line and find a clean container & fresh diesel and try again.
I'm doing this to discover if a blockage between the tank and the first filter is a possible cause.
Does that sound reasonable ?

Not so sure if it is just a fuel problem, look at the stop solenoid plunger in the video. The stop lever is vibrating back n forth and then at the end it looks like the plunger did fire off and stop the engine, need to be checking the switch circuits and see if the governor and stop lever springs are ok also.

Your stop solenoid is on the fritz. Just as an experiment disconnect it and hold the stop lever open with a spring and see if that fixes it.:)

As that the piece that is chattering continuously ? Should I hold the plunger in or out ?

Great catch kuboman... I didn't look close the first time...
I believe that solenoid has a 20 amp fuse, check that it is in good clean condition... There are two types of solenoids used on Kubota engines a 2 wire is the most common it energizes to kill the engine... the 3 wire energizes to hold the fuel ON... I think you have a 3 wire... so your problem may be in the fuel controller portion of the 'combination box' ... check all the wire connections as the problems with those is usually corrosion in the plugs that attach the wiring to the components
Clean them up and apply silicon grease, when you plug the wires together...... KennyV

I've just in for spending two hours mower my orchard with my fixed mower. You were exactly right. I'm glad you took the time to look at the video.
I'll start looking through the wiring for a bad connection. Thanks again, Shane

Glad you found the problem. It certainly could be a bad connection somewhere and it could be the unit itself. They do go bad once in a while.
Just another thought, the way it was acting the bad connection (if there is one) will be on the engine. My bet is the unit itself.

Thanks for posting the video. It is so much easier to diagnose when you can see what someone is trying to describe. Good job.:D
