F 150 plant retooling video

Did anyone catch the video on the news? I saw it on Fox Business, they had large Cat track hoes, front end loaders, semis and everything smaller then that inside the plant dismantling the old stuff to retool for the new aluminium F150. Impressive to see that size equipment being operated so well. Pretty cool!!

Cool! Looks like they scrapped the old assembly line -- that wasn't just an equipment changeover. I have seen similar equipment used when NASA decommissioned large wind tunnels. They pick/nibble/shear the massive metal structures apart.

The reporter made it sound like this new F-150 launch is a make or break deal for Ford, but that sounds dramatic to me. I think it's a case where they either maintain the status quo in sales, or jump ahead. Perhaps there are higher development costs that hinge on increased sales to make it a success.

I am not a fan of the front end, but in every other regard it looks like a great truck. Can't wait to see on in person.

I'll buy a Ford just because they didn't take part in the GM and Chrysler bailout. Yep I went there....

Best be careful what you post. There's already rumblings on other threads about TBN having a pro Ford slant and banishing posts of those who don't agree.
I want to know if any of those people were near the grassy knoll in November 1963. Everything's a conspiracy to some people.

The outfit I work for makes all the frame blanks for all the Ford trucks, 150- through 550 (yes the frames are still steel like they always have been)..... It's a 7/24/365 job and has been for 7 years now (since we got the contract).....

It's a calculated gamble for Ford (aluminum bodies). If it's a bust, Ford will be hurting. If it's not, Ford will have a decisive lead over and above what they already have in the light truck market... I own a Ford too, btw.... and a Chevy and a rice car.....
