Ez Steer install on JD 3038e

It finally happened i got one **** of a deal on an EZ guide plus and a steering motor $250CDN!!!
So naturally i am going to put in on my compact tractor, I have a few pics of the install. Not for the faint of heart........ It was not really meant to install on this small a tractor.

The first step was mounting the light bar on the loader control bracket. also had to use a hockey puck to lift it to the right height.

After that was the terrain compensation / motor driver. Had to build a bolt on custom bracket for that.

Made it out of some scrap angle iron, but i think i will need to raise the box up a little higher when i get time.

Then came the steering motor install, this took some thinking. The steering column would not accept trimbles stock mounts. Also the limited space of the Compact tractors operating station made it tough. i finally decided to make a custom bracket that sandwiched the steering column frame and sticks out the front of the dash panel. this design allows me to remove the motor and bracket using two bolts.

It took a bit of time but i fabricated a bracket to hold the steering motor much tighter to the steering column to save space.

The 1x2" piece of steel makes a handy conduit for the steering cable.

Last was making the GPS antenna match the JD colour scheme, looks pretty good.

I got the install done in about two days and it worked alright, I finally have it tuned and it steers very straight even on a compact cutting grass using WAAS corrections.
