I have a M8540 w LA1353 loader and need to unload and place some retaining wall blocks (we called them ecology blocks back in the day) - 46”x18”x21”. Looking at the spec sheet for my loader I see 2 sets of capacities (not pin placement). One says capacity bucket center. The other says pivot pin. The diff is like 1000#. So what’s the diff? How can I lift at the pivot pin? Which pivot pin?
Specs from here:

Yes basically the point before your attachment starts (bucket, etc). This measurement really isn't practical because weight has dimensions. As you mentioned 48x18x21 so you are looking at that weight distributed from the pin out at least 18 inches. The further you get away, the more your capacity goes down.

Technically If you had a chain or way to suspend the full load right under the pivot pin, you would get that capacity. However, that would mean the loader has to be at least a few feet off the ground, which diminishes your capacity....fun isn't it!

What do the blocks weigh?

@ 150#/cf, (concrete) x 10.5 c/ f =1575# approximately.
(Very fast math 😆)

I handle 500 kg ( 1100 lb) fertilizer bags easily with LA1153E loader on a M7040SU tractor, pins set on "power" not "height" I use tine bucket and keeps my load about a foot in front of the pivot pin, I lift them and suspend over fertilizer spreader so does it at height.......the bigger LA1353 should play with 1575lb. The bigger farmers get the 2200lb/1000kg fertilizer bags....

There is one way to find out ......... Just be sure you have plenty of counter weight on the 3-point.

The back of pallet forks is close to the pivot pin. Rollback curl can provide a little extra lift. Had some logs I couldn’t lift but could curl off the ground.

PFFT thats nothing. Go for it.
Hmm - I originally asked this because I read the blocks weighed in at near 3000# but rechecked and it is closer to 1600-1800. Maybe I confused it with the actual ecology block weights which are larger (4x2x2?).

Thanks for the responses. I just didn’t want to get home with a load of blocks that I couldn’t get off the trailer!

Google says a 4x2x2 concrete block is about 2400#, depending on how close you can keep it to the pins you should be able to lift it but I wouldn't want to have to maneuver with it or drive over any rough terrain.
