If there is a prior thread shoot me in the direction. If not, I'm looking at all 4 Zero turns. I'm going to go with a 72" or comparable. The only 2 I have looked into is the Ferris and bad boy. The bad boy has them on the price, But does anyone know the speed of cut? Acre/hour? I'm going to be mowing about 80 acres, lots of homes and lots of open fields. No fences to worry about. Let me know what you think of each from a personal experience! I have about 2 weeks to pick one. All of your info will be greatly appreciated.

Ferris used to have a slide rule I used for acres per hour. A 72" would do about 4.5 acres per hour at 85% effeciency. This accounts for some over lap ect turns ect. We use a Deere 797/72" on the farm it is right around those numbers depending on how smooth the ground is.

Sub, I looked at a badboy and I hope not to step on anyone's toes here but the diesel unit that I looked at had the appearance of a homemade mower. The pumps whined like a pack of hounds when you shot the coal to it and the ride wasn't in the same league as the Ferris. It had a 35h/p cat in it so it was quick but there again so is the Ferris. Personally, if you hit an immovable object at 15 mph its bound to leave a mark. If you look at the expense of adding a ROPS to the BB offering as opposed to what the Ferris sells for I think you'll see the margin of difference in price negligible.
