my 64 4000 has vertical exhaust. looking to change it to horizonal exhaust because after sitting in the rain or even a heavy dew, water will get down the pipe, and when i go to start it, it blows black water all over me and the tractor. the rain cap seems to fit the pipe ok, but i'd rather have horizonal exhaust. where can i find everything i need for the job? i've looked on the web but they are vague on what goes where.

hit ytmag.com, the ford forum.

ytmag sells all the parts for the underslung exhaust you need.

as indicated.. it's not much more than the muffler pipe itself.. it's a kinda flat one that gets real near the genny pulley.. :)

i like the flap caps.. I never have problems with mine. a angled pipe is ok with a coffee can over it is also very doable.

about half my tractors have stacks... the ones with flap caps never get water in them, the ones with angle stacks have coffee cans on them.

now.. here's an idea.. on the vertical exhaust, right where it makes a turn to the muffler, drill a 1/16" hole inthe bottom so any water getting in will drain out...

yea i like the hole idea, my 3600 does'nt have the problem of water getting in, its got a diffrent shaped raincap, kinda fits over the pipe, the 4000 has more of a flat surface to it. its not that big of a deal, but there is a john deere bird that likes to sit on the pipe and crap all over the headlight on that side.
