Hi, everyone im curious to how much interest/ work is available for a small excavator mulcher (probally kubota kx080). In the southern Ohio ( Noble county area). I guess im trying to see if theres a niche in market for a machine like that for pond mowing, creeks, steep/ sensitive ground, right of ways, fence lines etc. I could also offer dozer service ( deere 450). Just looking for input or opinions or experience with that type service. I know im always posting crazy ideas maybe ill find a niche in market one of these days. Thanks

I can't speak for Ohio, but in general there wouldn't be a ton of work for such a machine. It would be a nice addition in a fleet of mulchers for certain jobs, but you are very limited in reach and HP to rely on it to do all of your jobs. Pond dams, ditches, etc would be what you should focus on. If there is enough of that work in your area, maybe. But, you will never be able to compete price or production with a skid steer mulcher on flat ground, so flat ground jobs would be difficult to get.

I bought a Rock Hound and it works pretty well. I put it on a pc-35, but added counter weights. I also built a front wind shield for protection since it is an open cab. better with a cab...
I was hoping for a cleaner cut, but it beats the **** out of hand work. great for fence line and ditches and encroaching brush along roads. I don't hire out so I really don't have a feel for demand.

Thanks guys for input so far. Thats kinda the vibe im getting probally not a big demand for mulchin. I have a kubota kh191 14,000 lb hoe same physical size as kx080 basically. But it aint got hyd power, speed, etc of the newer one. I use this hoe alot on my ground which is steep and over grown with hedge trees and maltiflaura rose. A mower on the excavator would be nice to mow the steep banks and ditches and creek on my property. But cudnt justify the cost just for that. And the cost of a new hoe aint really justifiable either. Lol. Ive looking into trying to find a niche for small dozer and excavator services that others don't offer. Or dont want to fool with. Been getting some dozer jobs to do here in nxt month or so because of bigger well jobs being avaiable the other guys are doing. Again thanks.

I talked to a guy a while back that had put a "power pack" on his mini. I don't recall all of the specifics, as we only talked for a minute. We did a demolition and he was there digging the footings for a new house when we picked up our equipment.

But basically, he had used a gas engine off of something like a riding mower in the 25 HP range and mounted up a pump system. He made a mount for his bush hog and used it to mow the banks of his pond and ditches. Not a ton of power but he said it worked good for small stuff.

Hi guys well ive still been looking into a brush clearing/ landclearing business. Jus been crunchin numbers and stuff. Just curious has anyone run a Denis Cimaf head in Osage orange trees ( i call them hedge trees).

My property is overgrown with these and i have been clearing with dozer but results in lots of burning and ground disturbance. I have lots if these trees i would like to clear off for pasture the ground is steep and rough. But alot of the properties around here are the same way so i was hoping i could spark some interest in property enhancement and get work and slowly transistion into full time business along with excavation of access roads, fence lines, right of way clearing, dozer work, etc. Like i said b4 i would like to update to a kx080 to do this with. Thanks

If they have any size to them, they have value in the bow making, hobby (turning) and instrument worlds. Bow wood would be ~50+" in length and ~8+" in diameter.

Never heard of them used for this before. They make good fence post if you get staple drove in before they dry out. Once they are dead and dry they get very hard to cut or anything. Ive alreadt cleared prob 75-100 trees anywhere from 4" dia up to 24" dia.
