Back Story:

Let's call it 35-40 years ago, I bought my first washer/dryer. When I did so, it felt a bit like I was waving goodbye to being a bacheler and was becoming a bit domesticated. (don't ask why, don't know...just how I felt)

Well...today, I had my second foray into being domesticated.

Though I've owned before (via inheriting father in laws unit).... today, I "bought" my first pressure washer. I think it's actually my third but the first one that "I" have ever bought.

She insisted on electric so that's what I got (I really wanted to get a hot pressure washwer/steamer but she vetoed that real quick.

She was going to sand the 6x6 posts and restain/paint them over the next couple weeks. Got them, the railings and the pickets 25% done on the deck and on ground level, got 100% done.

I stand amazed at what a new, properly working unit (that doesn't leak everywhere) can do.

Oh my gosh.....what's next???

A white picket fence???

You may go about your day now that you've wasted 2 minutes reading this.

I actually have an electric pressure washer at the house.

I actually like it. It's light for dragging around for projects around the house.

Handy for washing vehicles, cleaning siding etc....

And the one feature I really like. If you stop for a minute, the motor shuts down till it senses a pressure drop.

No worrying about dead heading the pump if you need to stop and scrub something.

As a bachelor, I had furnished my house with period furniture. Mostly Craftsman, Art Deco and Art Nouveau. These are not re-creations. These are confirmed period pieces. These all, over time, have appreciated greatly in value. My wife has entirely different ideas about furniture. She likes modern industrial styles. She hated the Deco bambo central couch, chair and coffee table, I had bought years before for $600. But to make her happy, I sold them as a set. And we were talking about budgeting the replacements that were to her liking. We're going to need $2,500, she said. I said, "No problem, I sold the old set for three grand." The look on her face was precious. :)

When I was single, my house was furnished with yard sale and/or hand-me-downs. :ROFLMAO: It was functional, and my rationale was that when the time came that things got serious enough with a ladyfriend that she might want to move in, she probably wouldn't like anything I had, regardless of what it was. This way there was no particular attachment to any of it on my part.

When my now long time wife moved in she removed my cardboard box "coffee table" and the Jim Morrison silk screen on day one. Still have not forgiven her for the Jim removal. 35 years and counting.

Y'all's places sound like mine. When I first moved to Vegas, my only 'furniture' was an ironing board/dining room table. I added the boxes, but covered them with towels, because I'm classy like that. Slept on the floor with a spread out sleeping bag until a gf found me a twin bed for $100. Over time. I added a cast off table and mismatched recliners from co-workers whose wives had kicked the stuff to the curb, so to speak. Had a $300 Pioneer 6 disk CD player running through an $85 boom box because I couldn't afford a high quality stereo. The only thing left is the CD player and it needs to be fixed.

As expected, my wife did the choosing after that.

Funny about the pressure washer! My favorite pressure washer of all was an electric one (Kärcher I think) at work that would blast detergent at full (albeit not 3000psi) pressure. It was way more effective than my current 3,000psi one that out of the box only does low pressure detergent application.

All the best,

Peter
